HISTORICAL DATA:
UNIT - 60TH INFANTRY BATTALION, 10TH INF DIV, PA was organized on 01 December 1986 Pursuant To General Order number 402, H5ID, PA dated 27 Nov 1986. And the later transfer the unit to 3rd Infantry Bde, 7TH Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army pur to GO nr 17, SECTION III, HPA dated 01 Aug 1988 which is station at Camp Servillano Aquino, San Miguel, Tarlac. 60IB again tr
ansferred to 4th Infantry (DIAMOND) Division, PA pur to GO nr 49, section 1, HPA dated 21 Jan 2004 station at Camp Evangelista, Cagayan De Oro City and again transfer to a new activated 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division, PA eff 16 Aug 2006, pur to GO nr 350, SECTION II, HPA dated 07 Aug 2006 which station at Camp Panacan, Davao City. The word "mediator" denotes the unit's role in the pursuit of government's objective of unity, peace and reconciliation. The white dove and green leaves represents love to the service, honesty, integrity and carrier of unity and peace, to fellowmen. The light green background symbolizes reliance, the round shield wherein the units name and the Philippine army are inscribed is symbolic of the glory and aspirations that remain aglow in the Filipino soldier's heart to preserve liberty, freedom and democracy in our country which is the army's primary and ultimate objective. III.CHANGES IN ORGANIZATION
The 60th infantry (mediator) Battalion was initially organized as a combat unit under 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army and was formally activated on 01 December 1986 pursuant to GO 405, Hqs 5th Inf Div PA dated 27 November 1986. The unit was then assigned under the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army and later transferred to the newly organized 3rd Infantry Brigade (Separate), Philippine Army stationed at Camp Servillano Aquino, San Miguel, Tarlac pursuant to GO nr 17, section III, Hqs Philippine Army. On 15 January 2004 the unit was transferred to 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army pursuant to GO nr 49, section 1, HPA dated 21 Jan 04 and act as the maneuver battalion of 404th Infantry (Pag-Asa) Brigade in part of the province of Compostela Valley, Davao Del Norte and Agusan Del Sur and then become OPCON to 401st Infantry (Unite N’ Fight) Brigade based at Brgy New Visayas, Sto Tomas, Davao Del Norte. On 16 august 2006, the unit was transferred to 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, Philippine Army pursuant to GO nr 350, section II, HPA dated 07 aug 06 and act as the main effort of 1001st Infantry (Pag-Asa) Brigade in clearing FC 33 with its AOR in the province of Compostela Valley And Davao Del Norte. The nucleus of personnel assigned to the Battalion came from the Civil Disturbance Company (CDC), the 1st Rifle Company and Bravo Coy, Headquarters service Battalion of the 5th Infantry Division that composed the Charlie Company, Alpha Company and Bravo Company respectively. The Headquarters Service Company personnel were completely filled up when NETRAC students undergoing schooling At Training Command, Philippine Army (TCPA) were issued orders assigning them to the unit under the verbal instruction of GENERAL RODOLFO CANIESO, who was the Commanding General, Philippine Army at that time. With the full support of no less than the Commanding General Philippine Army, the troop ceiling, equipment and armament of the unit was completely filled up before the retraining. After its retraining, the unit was dispatched to Bical, Munoz, Nueva Ecija to Relieve In Place the 14th Inf Bn on 28 January 1987. The 60th Infantry Battalion stayed in Nueva Ecija for almost eleven (11) months, thereafter, it move to Mayantoc, Tarlac to occupy the tri-boundaries of Tarlac, Pangasinan And Zambales in compliance to combat orders stipulated by Campaign Plan "UGNAYAN II " HQS 3RD INF BDE (S) PA, dated 08 October 1987 and IMPLAN "SKY LARK" of TCG dated 21 October 1987. It was the time that the 60th Inf Bn garnered the Best Maneuvering Battalion (NOLCOM 1988 -1989)
The unit transferred to Camp Bodonia, Malabobo, Pangasinan on 24 July 1990 and stayed there for almost eight (8) months and moved to Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur on 27 April 1991 to relieve - in place the 17th Inf Bn. It was placed under the operational control of the 701st Inf Bde, 7th Inf Div, Philippine Army on 01 April 1999 pursuant to GO nr 134, H7ID, PA
After staying in Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur for more than ten (10) months, the Battalion Hqs transferred to Brgy Gaddani, Tayum, Abra to join its line companies which where all located in Abra at that time. The unit then moved to Brgy Visaya, Vintar, Ilocos Norte on 27 April 1993 to relieve - in place the 73rd Inf Bn and stayed there for fourteen (14) months. The unit again transferred to second district of Ilocos Sur relieve - in place the 72nd Inf Bn and stayed there for almost ten (10) months. Due to OPLAN "Rigodon Alpha " of the 701st Inf Bde, the unit transferred to Abra on 25 march 1995 occupying its northeastern municipalities. The unit was barely two (2) months old in Abra when it was alerted to proceed to Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, for new mission. The unit refurbished and underwent the rapid deployment force (RDF) training. After two (2) months of training. The unit deployed in Zamboanga City on 18 August 1995 to relieve- in place 78th Inf Bn and stayed there for six (6) months. The unit again transferred to Carmen, North Cotabato on 12 february 1996 under the operational control of 602 Inf Bde, 6th Inf Div. Wherein the battle of MALMAR occurred and stayed for one (1) year and eleven (11) months. After successfully controlling the area, the unit again transferred in Compostela Valley Province and relieve in place the 29th Inf Bn on 20 January 1998 and returned to the operational control of 701st Inf Bde. The Bn then was based in So Pagakpak, Brgy Bongabong, Pantukan, Compostela Valley and afterwhich on 10 November 1998, the Battalion base was transferred to Pob Monkayo, then it was returned at So Pagakpak, Brgy Bongabong, Pantukan on 10 Jan 1999 then moved to Brgy Tuboran, Mawab on 08 September 1999 co-located with Hqs 701st Inf Bde and returned again to So Pagakpak Brgy Bongabong, Pantukan on 01 october 2000. On 01 October 2003, the Battalion was again moved and established a new Battalion base at So Quarry, Brgy Mapaang, Maco, Compostela Valley. When the Cadre Battalion was implemented, H404 Bde realigned the Battalion AOR and swapped the Battalion base with Hqs 72IB in Doña Andrea, Asuncion, Davao Del Norte on 01 October 2004 then transferred its Battalion MCP on 15 Sept 2008 at JBL Complex, Sto Niño, Talaingod, DDN while retaining camp morgia as unit rcp. On 21 oct 2008 the battalion mcp was again moved and established a new Main Command Post (MCP) at Sto Niño, Talaingod, DDN. After the national flagship program in the construction of Talaingod-Bukidnon road The Battalion Main Command Post returned its base to Dona Andrea, Asuncion, DDN on 01 November 2009. On 20 February 2014, as part of 1003rd Bde Main Effort the in clearing Paquibato district, Davao City, the Battalion deployed two (2) rifle companies; the Bravo and Charlie company and part of Task Group “QUEPEPA” at four Brgys in Upper Paquibato namely; Brgy Tapak, Colosas, Paradise Embac and Pandaitan to conduct Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP) in the said area. the battalion also established Advance Command Post (ACP) at Brgy Tulalian, Sto Tomas, DDN to monitor the activities in Paquibato. After four (4) months of successfully clearing upper Paquibato District , the Bravo and Charlie Company handover upper Paquibato district to 69IB and shift the clearing of Davao del Norte at Upper Kapalong, and San Isidro, DDN on 20 July 2014 then the battalion also established Advance Command Post (ACP) at Brgy Libuton, San Isidro, DDN to monitor and supervised the clearing operations in said area. On 10 December 2014, Charlie Coy, assumed the operational responsibility of Laak, CVP and released operational responsibility of municipality of Carmen , Sto Tomas, and B.E Dujali, all of Davao del Norte and handover the responsibility to 69IB effective 20 July 2014 and released the operational responsibility of eight (8) barangays of Tagum City namely; Barangay New Balanban, Magdum, San Agustin, Nueva Fuerza, La Filipina, Cambuagan, and Apokon to 1001st Bde. The Battalion had successfully cleared all affected barangays from CNN affectation by deployment of Peace and Development Teams (PDTs) and proper implementation of Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP) in the Barangays. The Battalion also normalized and handed-over the ISE lead role to Local Government Units by signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as peaceful and further development municipalities of B.E Dujali on 16 April 2015, New Corella on 29 April 2015, San Isidro on 27 July 2015, Asuncion on 29 July 2015, and Kapalong on 05 October 2015. Effective 10 October 2015, assumed the operational responsibility of the eight (8) Barangays of Tagum City.
