Quezon City's Order for Third Week.
Maraming Salamat! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
I was just so emotionally happy, when I received a call from maam Cherry of OMAg for my dad who enlisted for Patatas. Ganun pala ang feeling na walang back-up from a politician. I did not influence OMAG's decision na ichoose ang farmer dad ko to bring 350kilos of patatas for Project Ubbo under QC's Order. But it was his time kasi nakapila din siya sa listahan. Siguro proud lang ako na nalagpasan ang challenge na huwag unahin ni Kelly sa listahan ang tatay niya. Wohoooo.

Team OMAg is doing their best to follow the guidelines we posted earlier.

My unending gratittude to team OMAg, and volunteers, the farmers for their patience and understanding, the Atok LGU & Barangay LGUs, for extending resources the project needs, BAEWs, MAFC Members, our partner Institutions, Atok GAP Practitioner Association (AGPA), Pansigedan, COSFARM, Harvest & Hope, and all friends who keep promoting, ordering, and referring us to potential partner-buyers. (Narigat gayam maysa-maysaen adu ti hanko nabanggit hihi). The hardwork & efforts on the ground comes from you.

Strengthening Institutions like the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) without political motives is one of the Project Ubbo's advocacy, along-side with fair-pricing, data, and transparent project management.

will put super patronage politics to decline. Sana gawin din ito ng DSWD, DOLE, CHED, DA at iba pang mga ahensiya.

We recognize that Project Ubbo cannot accommodate all enlisted vegetables and that this is only a temporary solution. Still, the team hopes that it brings relief to the farmers.

We could have simply pushed for cash dole-outs, but farmers would better appreciate it if the vegetables they had cared for for more than three monthsโ€”almost every day from 6 AM to 6 PMโ€”would not go to waste.

Atok Farmers still have tons of cabbages available. For rescue-buy partners, please contact us through viber 09178188455/ this FB Page/ email: [email protected]

Abgiyag!

Some would say leadership should look a certain way.

We disagree.

Leadership can be bold. Compassionate. Authentic. Q***r. Visionary.

And soon, weโ€™ll prove it. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Following last weekโ€™s May 10 Crisis Consultation, we have officially submitted our co-created policy proposals to the Office of Farmer advocate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Before anything else, thank you to our online community! Your quick shares on such short notice helped ensure the consultation was well-attended. We are immensely grateful to the municipal legislators of Benguet, the Vice-Mayor of Tinoc, Ifugao, the dedicated research teams from Benguet State University and UP Baguio, the delegation from the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council - Cordillera Administrative Region (RAFC-CAR), our regional CSO partners (the Consortium of Siged Farmer Associations and Responsible Markets and Aiur Technologies Corp PH), and every concerned citizen who showed up. This unified agenda is a result of your collective presence and commitment.

On May 12, the position paperโ€”backed by a resolution from the Philippine Councilors League-Benguet Chapter calling for an immediate vegetable import moratoriumโ€”was successfully handed over at the Senate.

Right after the submission on the same day, we also met with indigenous peoples advocate Teodoro Brawner Baguilat Jr. to build vital bicameral support for the agricultural sector.

We are pushing for four major national reforms for the highland vegetable value chain:

1. ๐™„๐™ข๐™ข๐™š๐™™๐™ž๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™„๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ง๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™ช๐™ข to protect local farm-gate prices from devastating import shocks.

2. ๐™๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™จ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ-๐™ก๐™š๐™™/๐™๐™ค๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™ ๐™‰๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐˜ฟ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™– ๐˜ผ๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก๐™ฎ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™˜๐™จ ๐˜พ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง to influence farmer's behavior from experience-based "jackpot farming" to scientific crop forecasting to prevent supply gluts.

3. ๐˜ฟ๐™š๐™™๐™ž๐™˜๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™ ๐™‰๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ง ๐™‹๐™ง๐™ค๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™ข ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™ƒ๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ก๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™‘๐™š๐™œ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™–๐™—๐™ก๐™š๐™จ to secure specialized funding specifically tailored to highland agriculture.

4. ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™œ๐™ž๐™˜ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ก๐™™-๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ƒ๐™ช๐™—๐™จ to build infrastructure between farms and major markets to eliminate spoilage and handle excess supply.

While these national proposals are now in motion, our attending local legislators from Benguet and Tinoc, Ifugao remain firmly committed to driving corresponding policies at the municipal and provincial levels.

The data is clear, the solutions are ready, and the advocacy continues!

PLGU, MLGUs, friends from LGUs. nasa photo section ang presyo sa retail for some areas. PLEASE sana maguide natin ang ating mga farmers. Enya ti maaramidan tayo tapno malako ti nateng ken at the same time
haan da kuma nga ma-exploit?
Outside Benguet, Price ranges from 40.00 to 80.00.
Nasakiten ti ulo mi. Please empower our farmers. It is never true nga haan nga magatang no at production cost natin ibebenta, because look at the prices outside Benguet below. Baka gusto niyo ituloy ang price monitoring sa outside Benguet. I cannot do this alone.
Panga-asi, ni farmer tayo, everyday niya inalagaan ang kanyang Cabbage for more than 3 mos. Agbomba ti rabii, mapan garden ti 6AM-8AM, 9AM-12NN,1-6PM. I know this because my family members and relatives are small-scale vegetable farmers.
Selling at least at production cost usually Php 28.50-30.00 for cabbage is NOT IDEAL, it is POSSIBLE.
Tulong ang kailangan ng ating harworking farmers- who feed the nation. Please kud ay bumadang kayo. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
Production Cost:
1. Farm Supplies (Seeds, Fertilizers & Soil Amendments, Chemical Pesticides)
2. Fixed Costs (Farm Equipment Depreciation, Irrigation, Land Rental)
3. Labor Cost (Hired Labor, Farmer' salary for Managing the farm- on top of being a farmer, & Other Imputed Labor)
3. Food Expenses of Farmers & Farm Laborers at work
4. Transportation Cost from farm to FCA Depot
3. Miscellaneous Expenses (Greenhouse, and Plastic mulch expenses, if any)
Prod.Cost per kilo= Total Production Cost divided by Total Weight of Harvest

Per OMAg's records, Atok has still 420,215 kilos of Cabbage, and 114,870 kilos of Wombok na nanganagnib na mabulok at gawing pataba nalang. Araw-araw itong inalagaan ni farmer for more than 3 months, bukod sa mga gastusin.
We humbly ask for help, hope mabili muna ito.
Legislative measures are on the way, but it will take time. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Maraming Salamat sa pag-facilitate ng partnership, our Youth and Students Advancing Gender Equality - YSAGE sister VM Glendale Benzon. โค
The Heritage City of Vigan partners with GAP Practitioners (AGPA) and Project Ubbo.
Pilot Delivery will include Cabbages (3,[email protected] per kilo), Wombok (1,000kls. @30.00/kilo), Chayote (3,000kls @ 30.00/kilo), Potato (5,000kls @65.00/kilo), and Radish(2,000kls @40.00/ kilo). Maraming Salamat po. โค
For this order, 40% will be allocated to AGPA members, in addition to the existing guidelines.

When I asked Vice Mayor Glendale if they felt exploited because of the pricing, she immediately answered, "No, kaya nga rescue buy para at least sana ay not below production cost ang price. Naiintindihan natin yan mare. Sa part naman namin, sasaluhin ni city government ang Transportation at idistribute natin ito sa sectors na affected ng fuel crisis. Sa ongoing crisis ngayon, makakatulong ito sa farmers at sa mga mamayan din ng Vigan."

Councilor Kelly Denn Venancio Tomas is a farmers' child in Atok, Benguet, and the initiator of UBBO: Unified Buying and Bayanihan Operations.

A much-needed response to the fuel crisis, Project Ubbo is a rescue-buy operation wherein LGUs and private buyers are linked directly to farmers, for fair pricing and partnership.

Ubbo is also a Benguet Indigenous term for "working together during agricultural activities."

Konsi Kelly is also a leader of CATW-AP's youth arm, the Youth and Students Advancing Gender Equality - YSAGE.
