📌UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Municipality of Atok, Benguet

The Local Government Unit of Atok reiterates the temporary suspension of all tourism activities within the Municipality of Atok, Benguet until further notice, pursuant to Executive Order No. 2026-53 issued by the Provincial Governor of Benguet, and as further implemented through Municipal Executive Order No. 2026-62.

The temporary suspension remains in effect due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and the prevailing inclement weather conditions affecting the municipality.

The public, particularly tourists and visitors planning to travel to Atok, are advised to:
▪️Defer or reschedule tourism activities and visits to the municipality until the suspension is lifted;
▪️Monitor official weather updates and advisories from DOST-PAGASA, reliable sources or government authorities;
▪️Exercise caution and avoid traveling to areas with unsafe or unstable road conditions; and
▪️Abide by the advisories, directives, and safety measures issued by the local government.

The LGU Atok continues to monitor the situation and will issue appropriate updates once conditions improve and tourism activities may safely resume.

Tourism in Atok Remains Suspended

• The road damaged by recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon is currently under construction with the help of the community.
• An alternate route is available but will be primarily used by farmers and residents, as it is only one lane.

𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗺. 𝟱𝟭-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗼𝗮𝘆-𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘀-𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝘁 (𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁) 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱.

The situation was initially reported by a concerned citizen on August 9, 2026. Responders immediately conducted an ocular inspection and issued appropriate notice, particularly focusing on nearby residential houses and business establishments that may be affected by the deteriorating road condition. Monitoring and ocular inspections are being conducted in the area.

Several coordination meetings are also being convened to assess the situation and identify possible interventions and capabilities that could be undertaken.

On August 12, 2026, an ocular inspection of the identified alternate routes, including the road and footpath, was likewise undertaken through the Atok MPS, Municipal Engineering Office, Atok Fire Station, and Barangays Paoay and Cattubo, particularly to determine accessibility for the affected communities, including learners who may need to use the alternative routes.

It is also noted that a number of local roads are affected, with these situations, we urge everyone to refrain from unnecessary traveling, if not possible, please always undertake extreme caution. Be alert and be safe.

To promote road safety, discipline, and order, the Municipality of Atok has enacted its official Transport and Traffic Code.

🔑 𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝙋𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨:

♦ Establishes the Municipal Traffic Management Council (MTMC) and Traffic Enforcement and Management Section (TEAMS).
♦ Defines traffic rules, parking zones, and penalties for violations.
♦ Regulates public transport operations, including tricycle franchises under the Atok Motorized Tricycle Franchising and Regulatory Board (AMTFRB).
♦ Promotes safe driving practices, proper vehicle maintenance, and community awareness.
