The Schools Division Office of Island Garden City of Samal (SDO IGACOS) IPEd Monitoring and Evaluation Team headed by Filomena M. Lopez,Education Program Supervisor and IPEd Coordinator, extends its heartfelt gratitude to all IPEd Implementing Schools that participated in the 1st Batch of Division Validation. The activity may have been a challenging journey, but it was equally meaningfulโfilled with stories of struggles, successes, lessons, and inspiration. Through every school visit, the team witnessed the dedication of school heads, teachers, learners, parents, and community elders who continue to contribute to making Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) more responsive and meaningful. We walked together, learned together, grew together, and shared best practices together.
The initial validation results also highlighted that schools are at different stages of their IPEd journey. While some schools are relatively new to the program yet have already made significant strides, others continue to strengthen their actual implementation. The M&E Team hopes that school self-assessment will become a regular practice, ideally conducted every end of June and December and reflected in the School Calendar, to help schools track progress and identify areas for improvement. More importantly, the team hopes to see IPEd move beyond mere compliance toward genuine commitmentโwhere the entire school community works together to deliver a culture-responsive curriculum, contextualized lessons, and learning experiences that meaningfully integrate the Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSPs) of the Sama communities.
Above all, the validation journey reaffirmed one powerful truth: IPEd comes alive when the community comes together. The presence and voices of learners, parents, and elders during the validation demonstrated that Indigenous education becomes stronger when culture is heard, valued, and lived inside and outside the classroom. May every effort of our IPEd Champions bear fruit that will be nurtured, sustained, and passed on from one generation to the next. With faith, collaboration, and unwavering commitment, may we continue building schools where inclusion is not merely a word, but a reality felt by every learner, every day.
Daghang salamat, mga IPEd Champions! Padayon ta!
