Sogod National High School once again proved its commitment to academic excellence as it staged the Science-Math Month Celebration 2026 with the theme “𝘛𝘶𝘬𝘭𝘢𝘴-𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘰: 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘘𝘶𝘪𝘻 𝘉𝘦𝘦 – 𝘈𝘐 𝘌𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.” This year’s program highlighted the integration of Artificial Intelligence, Science, and Mathematics, inspiring students to think beyond the future of discovery.

The event opened with solemnity and pride: 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧, YES-O Vice President, led the Opening Prayer, followed by the Philippine National Anthem rendered by 𝙈𝙖'𝙖𝙢 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖, Mathematics Teacher. A warm welcome was delivered by 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚, Math Club President (Grade 11), setting the tone for a day of intellectual challenge.

Adding artistry to the program, Young teachers 𝙎𝙞𝙧 𝙈𝙅 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙤 and 𝙎𝙞𝙧 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙝𝙪𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙤 performed a duet, while 𝙇𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙯𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙚𝙡 𝘿𝙚 𝙇𝙪𝙣𝙖 of Grade 8 – Athena captivated the audience with a solo intermission.

The Quiz Bee Proper tested students’ knowledge in Environmental Science, Scientific Discoveries, Mathematics Concepts, and AI & Robotics, showcasing the sharpness and versatility of young minds. Meanwhile, the Geolojingle Competition brought creativity and energy to the stage, with performances from Grade 8 – Athena, Grade 10 – Alchemists & Innovators, Grade 7 Nimbus & Cumulus, and Grade 9 – Garnet & Emerald.

The awarding ceremony, led by 𝙈𝙖'𝙖𝙢 𝙆𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝘽. 𝙁𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨, YES-O Adviser, recognized the outstanding achievers.

Sogod National High School successfully conducted its End of Term 1 Parents' Assembly on September 18, 2026, at the SMAW Building, bringing together parents, guardians, teachers, and school administrators in a meaningful gathering centered on celebrating student achievements and sharing academic progress.

The School Principal, 𝙈𝙖'𝙖𝙢 𝙀𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘼. 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙖, presented the school's accomplishments for the first term, highlighting significant achievements, ongoing programs, and the collective efforts of learners, teachers, and stakeholders in fostering quality education.

To promote the welfare and safety of students, important discussions on Dengue Awareness and the Anti-Bullying Campaign were delivered, emphasizing the vital roles of families and the school community in ensuring a healthy, safe, and supportive learning environment. Parents and guardians were likewise informed of the Calendar of Activities for Term 2, enabling them to stay updated and actively engaged in upcoming school events and initiatives.

Updates on Assessment Practices and ARAL Program Developments were also presented to provide parents with a clearer understanding of their children's academic journey and the school's continued commitment to improving learning outcomes.

The assembly served as a valuable platform for open communication, collaboration, and shared responsibility between the school and families. Yesterday, the Bacacay NDRRMC deployed personnel to conduct mosquito misting/fogging activities at Sogod National High School (Sogod NHS) as part of the ongoing efforts to prevent and control the spread of dengue.

This initiative aims to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and reduce the risk of dengue transmission within the school community, ensuring a safer and healthier environment for students, teachers, and staff.

Let us continue to work together by maintaining cleanliness, eliminating stagnant water, and practicing proper sanitation. Prevention starts with all of us!

In response to the rising cases of dengue in Albay and in compliance with the DepEd Albay Memorandum on the Simultaneous Dengue Clean-Up Drive and Continuation of the 4S Strategy, Sogod National High School actively participated in today's school-wide clean-up and inspection activity.

Led by the School Principal, Ma'am Eden Batalla, teachers, non-teaching personnel, and parents joined forces in cleaning the school grounds, removing stagnant water, clearing drainage areas, and eliminating possible mosquito breeding sites to help protect the health and safety of learners and the community. The activity was further strengthened through the visit and inspection of the Bacacay NDRRMC, which coordinated with the school in monitoring and ensuring the cleanliness and preparedness of the campus against dengue.

This collective effort reflects the commitment of Sogod NHS and its stakeholders to address the growing threat of dengue through prevention, vigilance, and community participation. As we continue to promote a safe and healthy learning environment, we encourage everyone to practice the 4S Strategy: Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Seek early consultation, Self-protection measures, and Support fogging/spraying in hotspot areas when necessary.

In support of disaster preparedness and safety promotion, the personnel of Sogod National High School actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) by practicing the Duck, Cover, and Hold procedure during the conduct of the INSET.

In line with the Department of Education (DepEd) advisory regarding the implementation of the simultaneous earthquake drill, teaching and non-teaching personnel carried out the prescribed safety protocols and proper evacuation procedures. Meanwhile, learners also took part in the activity from their respective homes by practicing the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique together with their families.

Activities like these help strengthen awareness, preparedness, and the ability to respond effectively during emergencies, making schools and communities safer for everyone.
