STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Negros Occidental witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) supporting various environmental conservation initiatives in the province.
The Adopt-a-Site Program for Tree Planting in Don Salvador Benedicto was formalized through a MOA signed by DENR-NIR Regional Executive Director Forester Charlie E. Fabre, Primelectric Holdings, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Z. Castro, representing Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power), and DSBAFFA Chairman Roger Rebatado.
The signing, held at the Negros Power Main Office in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, was witnessed by OIC PENR Officer Forester Catherine C. Balasa and Northern Negros Natural Park Operation Superintendent Forester Ma. Gina Consolacion Gerangaya.
The partnership aims to support forest restoration, reforestation, biodiversity conservation, and watershed protection through the establishment and maintenance of a tree-planting site in Don Salvador Benedicto. It also includes Adopt-a-Site mangrove planting activities in Bago City to help restore and protect coastal ecosystems while promoting community participation in environmental stewardship.
Also during the activity, Hon. Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, Governor of Negros Occidental, signed a MOA for the illumination project of the Provincial Capitol, witnessed by Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando P. Diaz I. The project aims to enhance the Capitol’s visibility and architectural features while preserving the integrity and historical character of the structure.
PENRO Negros Occidental remains committed to supporting collaborative initiatives among the DENR, Provincial Government, private sector, and local communities toward the protection, rehabilitation, and sustainable management of the province’s natural resources.
Together, let us strengthen partnerships for a greener and more sustainable Negros Occidental.
