PROVINCIAL SPORTS COUNCIL MEETING HELD

DepEd Schools Division Superintendents, Assistant Schools Division Superintendents, District Supervisors, and sports coordinators from various LGUs of the province attended the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Council Meeting to discuss preparations for upcoming athletic competitions and align strategies to further strengthen sports development in the province.

The meeting was held this morning at the FTMON Function Hall in Bacolod City.

Governor B**g Lacson thanked DepEd Negros Occidental Division led by SDS Gladys Amylaine Sales, and the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Council for convening the meeting, recognizing their continued commitment to developing the province's future athletes.

He assured the participants of the Provincial Government's support for grassroots sports development as he urged education leaders to strengthen collaboration in nurturing young Negrense athletes.

"The future champions and bearers of the Philippine sports legacy reside in the young athletes entrusted to the care and development of our schools and government," the governor said.

He also said that the Provincial Sports Council Meeting goes beyond planning sports events, serving as a platform to enhance coordination, exchange best practices, address emerging concerns, and ensure that every young Negrense athlete is given the opportunity to develop and excel.

Calling on members of the Provincial School Sports Council and education stakeholders, Gov. Lacson emphasized that effective leadership and mentorship are essential to shaping the next generation of Negrense athletes.*

LUPON MEDIATION TRAINING. Another batch of Lupon Tagapamayapa from various local government units in Negros Occidental underwent a three-day Transformative Mediation Training held from August 5 to 7 at the Negros Residences Function Hall, strengthening their capacity to resolve community disputes through peaceful and effective mediation.

This batch of participants are from the local government units of Talisay City and Don Salvador Benedicto.

Governor B**g Lacson graced the second day of the event, expressed his support for the participants, emphasizing their important role in promoting peaceful conflict resolution and strengthening harmony in their barangays.

The continuing capacity-building program, now on its 14th batch of trainees, is funded through the Provincial Peace and Order allocation under the Office of the Provincial Administrator, in partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay.

The Provincial Planning and Development Office, led by Officer-in-Charge Benja Lucasan, has been facilitating the activity, which forms part of the Provincial Government's broader strategy to strengthen grassroots institutions, promote people-centered governance, and foster a culture of peace through participatory peace and development.*

NEGROS OCC., TESDA LAUNCH “DRIVE TO THRIVE” PROGRAM TO BOOST SKILLS, ROAD SAFETY

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, through the Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC), in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), launched the "Drive to Thrive" Program, yesterday, August 6, a community-based driving skills and mechanics training that equips Negrenses with practical competencies while promoting employment opportunities and responsible road use.

Governor B**g Lacson said that the program reflects the Provincial Government's commitment to creating more opportunities for Negrenses by investing in technical education that enhances employability, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

“Today, we open new opportunities for our fellow Negrenses by investing in their skills and capacities. Through technical education and skills training, we are equipping our people with competencies that will enable them to earn a living, pursue entrepreneurship, adapt to changing industries, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of their communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, as part of the program, TESDA Negros Island Region (NIR), led by Regional Director Niña Connie Dood, awarded trainer certification to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental (PGNO), officially accrediting the Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC) to deliver training and conduct competency assessments in Basic Driving and Basic Mechanics.

Successful trainees will be eligible to earn National Certificate (NC) II qualifications in these fields, expanding opportunities for employment and livelihood.

The first batch of trainees consists of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office's (PDRRMO) Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs), who will undergo training to strengthen their capability to safely operate and perform basic maintenance on the province's Level 1 ambulances and other emergency response vehicles.

According to the Provincial Administrator Atty Rayfrando P. Diaz II, the Provincial Government plans to expand the program to other PGNO employees, as well as scholars of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) and the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP).

Gov. Lacson also highlighted the partnership between the Provincial Government, through the TLDC, and TESDA in expanding access to community-based training in Basic Driving and Basic Mechanics.

He thanked TESDA for its continued commitment to providing quality technical skills training that creates opportunities for Negrenses.*

The Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) Negros Occidental Chapter, led by its president, Richelle Verdeprado, took their oaths of office before Governor B**g Lacson at the Provincial Capitol, this afternoon.

Other officers are Joemil Galve, vice president; Adelle Lemay, secretary; Raymon Posta, assistant secretary; Marivic Laspiñas, treasurer; Cyril Ramos, auditor; Elmer Calimpos, public relations officer; and members of the board of directors Leonard Aguiman, Linda Delos Reyes, Rose Gabinera, Julio Labayen, Lordielyn Pereyra, Jonna Quinoñero, and Edrelyn Samson.

PASWI is mandated to advance the social work profession by strengthening the competence of social workers, advocating for social welfare and social justice, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to improve the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.*

CAPITOL EXPANDS LIVESTOCK, POULTRY PROGRAMS THROUGH ANIMAL DISPERSAL

A total of 1,546 heads of livestock and poultry, valued at P739,650, were distributed to qualified farmers, associations, local government units, and institutional partners as part of the Provincial Government's continuing animal productivity programs to boost the livelihood of farmers.

Governor B**g Lacson, Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, and Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Placeda Lemana led the ceremonial turnover of livestock and poultry under the Provincial Swine Industry Recovery Initiatives and Animal Genetic Improvement and Livelihood Programs at the Provincial Capitol today.

The assistance included 98 piglet weaners, 1,300 free-range chicks, five weaned male cattle, two rams (male sheep), 50 Muscovy ducklings, 50 Itik Pinas growers, and 250 Itik Pinas ducklings.

The dispersed animals were produced by the province's two livestock facilities—the Negros First Ranch (NFR) and the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm.

The Provincial Government also distributed five culled male cattle to qualified recipients under the Provincial Cattle Fattening Program, which aims to provide beneficiaries with additional family income through the sale of fattened cattle.

Recipients of the cattle dispersal program included 26 associations, one cooperative, five farm schools, one eco-tourism organization, and seven individual beneficiaries.*
