PGNO ROLLS OUT “NUTRI NANAY, NUTRI BATA” FOOD PACK DISTRIBUTION

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has assembled “Nutri Nanay and Nutri Bata” food packs for distribution to beneficiaries in all component LGUs of the province, as part of its intensified efforts to address malnutrition.

According to Provincial Administrator Atty Rayfrando P. Diaz II, the provincial government will distribute 3,414 food packs weekly, for a total of 13,656 packs over four consecutive weeks, benefiting children aged 6 to 56 months and pregnant women in their first trimester with low body mass index (BMI) in all 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental.

The food pack assembly was carried out by PGNO personnel from the Office of the Provincial Administrator, Technology and Livelihood Development Center, General Services Office, and Provincial Health Office, with the assistance of volunteers from Colegio de San Agustin Bacolod.*

Improved road access for farmers and expanded spaces for community activities are expected to boost livelihoods and strengthen local development in Cadiz City following the turnover of completed road concreting projects and the KAPATIRAN Multi-Purpose Center worth a total of P78.99 million under the national government’s Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program.

Negros Occidental Governor B**g Lacson highlighted the direct benefits of the projects to residents during the ceremonial handover at the Cadiz Arena on October 9, led by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, Third District Rep. Alfredo Marañon III, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., and other local officials and guests.

The projects include road concreting works in Barangay 3 to 19A, Barangay V.F. Gustilo, and Dinaldangan to Sitio Huebesan in Barangay Celestino Villacin, as well as the KAPATIRAN Multi-Purpose Center.

Gov. Lacson thanked the City Government of Cadiz and OPAPRU for their support in implementing the projects.

He emphasized that collaboration among the national, provincial, and local governments is vital to advancing community development, adding that peace remains essential to sustainable progress.*

The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City has strengthened its diagnostic capabilities with the acquisition of a new ENT Tower and ultrasound machine.

The hospital’s Medical and Nursing Staff recently underwent demonstration and training on the use of the new equipment, which will expand its capacity to provide specialized examinations and procedures.

The ultrasound machine can be used for thyroid, chest, whole abdomen, prostate, sc***um, and breast examinations, providing doctors with additional tools for accurate diagnosis and patient care.

The equipment upgrade is part of the continuing efforts of the Negros Occidental Provincial Government, through the Hospital Operations Department, to modernize the provincial hospital and equip healthcare workers with appropriate technology and skills.*
