The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Negros Island Region (DA-BFAR NIR) conducted the the soft launching of MMK 2.0 IEC Campaign during the fisheries technician meetings held across each province of the region from July 28 to 31, 2026.

MMK 2.0โ€”Malinis at Masaganang Katubigan, was officially presented to our fisheries technicians, highlighting that the evaluation criteria for coastal management and inland waters management are distinct and separate.

Furthermore, upcoming regional activities such as the MMK jingle and the MMK OK run were introduced during the event, alongside a discussion of the events lined up for Fisheries Week in September.

These collaborative sessions mobilize local technicians to champion sustainable aquatic resource management across the region.

Bacolod City, Negros Occidental | July 21โ€“23, 2026 โ€”The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), through the Development of the Salt Industry Project (DSIP), conducted a capacity-building activity on the implementation of BFAR Administrative Circular No. 003, s. 2025, in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. The activity gathered DSIP Focals, Provincial Fisheries Office representatives, and Licensing Officers from the Visayas and Mindanao clusters to strengthen their understanding of the Salt Production Tenurial Instrument (SPTI) and its role in supporting the sustainable development of the country's salt industry.

The activity featured lectures, workshops, and a field activity that provided participants with practical insights into salt production operations and the implementation of the SPTI. These sessions enhanced participants' technical and operational capacities on the application process, licensing requirements, compliance monitoring, and policy implementation, equipping them to effectively facilitate the issuance and management of salt production tenurial instruments while promoting sustainable and responsible salt production nationwide.
