Barangay Banago Focal PIO Official Asenso Barangay Banago PIO According to the early settlers along time aga there were trees that grew abundantly in the area.

It has a heart-shaped leaves about am man’s size palm that bore pink flowers. Visiting people from neighboring areas often called these trees “Banag” which was believed to be the origin of the name Banago. In 1850, Barangay Banago was officially named Barrio Banago by the Gobernadorcillo, which resulted to a dominant Spanish influence over the people. For generations the head of the Barangay is ca

lled “Deligado” who is being appointed by the Mayor of the City of Bacolod which lasted until the Commonwealth era. During the liberation, the head of the Barangay was called Teniente del Barrio (Barrio Lieutenant) which later on was revised to Kaptian del Barrio or Barrio Captain by Republic Act No. 3950 in 1963. During the Marcos Regime, it was changed to Punong Barangay and is still being adopted today. During the Spanish Era, education takes the form of home school in the form of tutorship which later on was replaced through the establishment of primary schools. Modes of transport is through the use of wooden boat or raft made of bamboo. However, most of the inhabitants just walk along the shoreline in going to nearby communities to conduct their trade and commerce. Most of the barangay residents were fishermen with fishing as their, main source of livelihood even until today.

The visit highlighted the upcoming Minor Surgical Mission to be conducted in Barangay Banago, including the necessary preparations, coordination, and logistical requirements to ensure the successful delivery of medical services to our constituents.

The Barangay Banago Council is grateful for the Rotary Club of Bacolod Central’s continued partnership and commitment to bringing essential healthcare services closer to our community.

Today, the Barangay Banago, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Arnel E. Kap Baldo Arnel Benjamin , warmly welcomed the SM City Foundation during their courtesy visit.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss meaningful partnerships, community programs, and possible collaborations that will benefit the residents of Barangay Banago.

One of the exciting initiatives discussed is the upcoming International Coastal Clean-Up 2026 on September 19, 2026, where SM City Foundation will partner with Barangay Banago in promoting environmental protection, coastal cleanliness, and community participation.

Beyond this activity, both sides also expressed their openness to explore future collaborations and joint programs in areas such as environmental sustainability, community development, youth engagement, social responsibility, disaster preparedness, and other initiatives that can contribute to the welfare and progress of our community.

Barangay Banago looks forward to strengthening this partnership and creating more opportunities where the government, private sector, and community can work hand in hand for a cleaner, safer, and more progressive Banago.

Barangay Banago, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Arnel E. Benjamin, extends its full support to the Police Station under the new leadership of PCPT Ramie T. Sayson.

During the courtesy visit, the Barangay Council warmly welcomed PCPT Sayson and discussed the needs and concerns of the Police Station. As a gesture of support and commitment to strengthening peace and order in the community, the Barangay Council formally handed over a printer donation to the station.

This initiative reflects the strong partnership between Barangay Banago and Police Station 3 in working together toward a safer, more peaceful, and better community for everyone.

This afternoon, PCPT Ramie T. Sayson paid a courtesy visit to Punong Barangay Kap Baldo Arnel Benjamin at the temporary Barangay Hall of Barangay Banago, located at the Purok Mahimulaton Multi-Purpose Hall.

The visit highlights the importance of continued coordination and strong partnership between the Police Station 3 and the Barangay Council in ensuring peace, order, safety, and the welfare of the residents of Barangay Banago.
