𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁.
When you’ve felt the sting of your own sweat dripping into your eyes as the sun burns your back. When you’ve stood knee-deep in mud because there was no choice but to push forward. When food runs out and you eat whatever scraps you can find, even the skin of a banana, just to keep moving. When meals come at the wrong time... sometimes late at night, sometimes not at all... and you learn to live with an empty stomach.

You’ll understand more when you’ve cried in silence, because showing weakness is not allowed. When you’ve learned to swallow your anger, because discipline demands it. When your voice goes hoarse from shouting commands, but you keep going. When you’ve followed orders you didn’t agree with, without a word, because obedience comes before opinion. And when you’ve smiled to reassure others, even while your own heart was breaking.

You’ll know the weight of this uniform when you wake up while the world still sleeps, and come home just as others are starting their day. When Christmas is spent in the dark, away from family. When New Year means gunfire instead of fireworks. When birthdays pass with no one to celebrate but yourself.

And you’ll truly understand when you’ve risked your life in the name of people you may never meet, for a country that sometimes forgets your sacrifice.

Only then can you realize: being a soldier is never worthless. It is a price paid every day in silence, sweat, tears, and blood; for freedom others take for granted.

Mustering of troops

On November 23, 2025, the 1st NOC (RR) Engr Construction Company, 605th CDC, 6RCDG, RCPA successfully carried out a humanitarian house-construction mission for the Lariba Family in Sitio Camplar, Barangay Bato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. This initiative forms part of the Reserve Philippine Army’s continued commitment to support disaster-affected communities and help families restore their homes and sense of security after recent calamities. The Lariba Family, whose children are active members of the Advance ROTC Officer Corps, was among the households severely affected, making this mission both timely and meaningful. Under the leadership and supervision of the Company Commander, 1LT NATHANIEL JAN G. CELIZ PA (RES), together with Sgt. Welly Villaluz PA (Res) and Sgt. Mannel Correjado PA (Res), the team worked diligently to ensure that the construction operation was well-organized, safe, and aligned with the Army’s mandate of serving communities in need.

This significant undertaking was further strengthened through the invaluable support by Mayor John Paul K. Alvarez, Vice Mayor John Paulo M. Alvarez, and Sir Gideon Padilla, who provided the vehicle used to transport engineering personnel, as well as by the generous sponsors who donated construction materials essential to the activity. Their assistance ensured smooth coordination, sustained mobility, and efficient ex*****on throughout the operation. The collaboration between the Reserve Philippine Army, the 605th Community Defense Center under COL DON L. VILLANUEVA GSC (INF) PA, and these committed partners reflects a shared dedication to community upliftment, resilience, and public service. Together, their collective efforts stand as a testament to how unity and compassion can bring hope, restore dignity, and create meaningful change for families rebuilding after hardship.
