Conference with the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) on Garbage Collection & Waste Management Strategies
A formal conference was recently held together with officials and representatives from the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) to address key issues regarding local waste management and to establish a clearer path forward for our community.
Key Discussion Points & Updates

• Reiteration on Garbage Collection Setbacks: BENRO and the Barangay addressed the recent delays and operational challenges encountered in the garbage collection schedule across the barangay, outlining the technical and logistical factors that caused these setbacks.

• Streamlining Collection Schedules: Measures are being put in place to restore and enforce a more reliable, regular, and predictable collection route for all sectors and puroks.

• Proper Waste Segregation at Source: Barangay Handumanan strongly reiterates the strict implementation of proper waste segregation at the household level (Biodegradable, Non-Biodegradable, and Recyclable).

• The Way Forward: Joint initiatives between BENRO and our Barangay The Punong Barangay will focus on enhancing enforcement against illegal dumping, strengthening composting projects, and improving real-time communication regarding Garbage Collection.

We earnestly appeal for the full cooperation of every Handumanian household. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable environment requires a shared commitment between our local government and our residents.

​We were honored by the presence and support of our dedicated leaders, including Punong Barangay Hon. Ma. Febe F. Legaspi, Hon. Societo M. Baya, and Vice Mayor Kalaw, who joined us in championing the welfare of our solo parents.

​Barangay Handumanan recently hosted a dedicated Training and Seminar for Food Vendors, equipping local food business owners and street vendors with vital skills in food safety, proper hygiene standards, and public health guidelines.

​Safe Food Handling: Best practices for safe preparation, safe cooking temperatures, and cross-contamination prevention.
​Hygiene & Sanitation: Proper personal hygiene protocols, sanitary storage, and clean workspace maintenance.
​Health Compliance: Guidelines on securing necessary health permits and maintaining city-wide health standards.
