𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Earlier today, October 7, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Regional Office VI celebrated Elderly Filipino Week (EFW) 2026 with the "Pasidungog" at the Multi-Purpose Gym in Pavia, Iloilo. Anchored on the powerful theme, “Nakatatandang Pilipino: May Halaga at Karapatan, May Boses at Ambag sa Bayan,” the event celebrated the indispensable role of our lolos and lolas in shaping our communities and our nation.

Gracing the event was Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Sec. Phillip G. Lo, who delivered President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s message of profound gratitude for the contributions of our elderly. Sec. Lo emphasized the Marcos administration’s steadfast commitment to advancing the welfare, rights, and empowerment of senior citizens through the continued, robust efforts of the DSWD and NCSC.

Pavia Mayor Laurence Anthony “Luigi” Gorriceta welcomed the delegates and highlighted the municipality's strong social protection programs and initiatives tailored for the elderly.

95-year-old Miriam Ruth Delariman Garingalao of Iloilo City moved the crowd with her story. A dedicated former religious education and music teacher, "Ma'am Mir" reminded everyone that life’s true value lies in its quality and how you live it.

NCSC Regional Director Ann Rapunzel O. Ganzon also led a MOA signing with the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) VI to further expand programs and support systems for older persons in the region.

Meanwhile, the core of the “Pasidungog” honored the continued support of NGAs, LGUs, CSOs, and private sector partners. The event also celebrated the finalists of the photo exhibit showcasing the Best LGU Initiatives and Practices.

Together with NCSC and the OSCAs all over the region, let’s ensure that every senior citizen is heard, protected, and recognized as an active contributor to nation-building. Sa padayon, puso para sa seniors!
