The Provincial Health Office of Negros Occidental is pleased to announce its partnership with JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (originally John Snow, Inc) through the TB Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) Health Commitment Grant, supporting the Province’s intensified efforts to find and manage Tuberculosis (TB) cases across participating LGUs.

Under this partnership, the Province will implement a target-driven and milestone-based TB program, with grant support linked to the achievement and verification of agreed program deliverables.

The implementation will focus on:

🔎 Active Case Finding
Identifying people with TB symptoms and other individuals who may benefit from TB screening.

🏘️ Intensified and Enhanced Case Finding
Bringing TB screening closer to communities and priority populations.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Contact Investigation
Systematically identifying and evaluating household and close contacts of people diagnosed with TB.

💊 TB Preventive Treatment
Ensuring eligible contacts are assessed and initiated on preventive treatment in accordance with national guidelines.

🧪 Strengthened Diagnostic Access
Maximizing available GeneXpert/Xpert and chest X-ray capacity to support timely diagnosis.

🧑‍⚕️ Community TB Navigation
Mobilizing BHWs and community TB navigators to support screening, referral, follow-up, and linkage to care.

📊 Performance Monitoring
Using LGU-specific targets, monthly reporting, data validation, and a provincial monitoring dashboard to ensure that implementation remains on track.

The grant’s milestone-based mechanism is particularly important: resources are linked to measurable accomplishments and deliverables. For the Provincial Health Office, this means strengthening not only the number of people screened, but the entire TB cascade:

The PHO extends its sincere appreciation to the US government Department of State (DOS), JSI for this opportunity and partnership. We also recognize the commitment of our City and Municipal Health Offices, TB program teams, BHWs, community TB navigators, laboratories, hospitals, and partner stakeholders who will make implementation possible on the ground.

This is a shared commitment: every TB case found is a transmission chain interrupted; every patient linked to treatment is a life protected; every eligible contact started on preventive treatment is a future TB case potentially prevented.

Together, let us move Negros Occidental closer to a TB-free province.
