Kini usa ka hiniusang paningkamot pinaagi sa lig-on nga partnership ug koordinasyon sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), nga nagtumong sa pagpanalipod sa panginabuhian sa mga mag-uuma batok sa mga risgo sama sa kalamidad, peste, ug kadaot sa ani.

Kini nga programa gisuportahan sa LGU-Bacuag ubos sa pagpangulo ni Municipal Mayor Tessie Jean C. Nakao, pinaagi sa Municipal Agriculture Office nga gipangulohan ni Edcelle M. Zabala, uban sa tumong nga mapalapdan ang access sa agricultural protection ug masiguro ang seguridad sa atong mga mag-uuma.

A total of 40 fisherfolks received various fishgear, including gill nets, sinkers, nylon, rubber floaters, and hook-and-line materials to support and strengthen their livelihood in the fishing industry.

The Local Government Unit of Bacuag, headed by Municipal Mayor Hon. Tessie Jean C. Nakao, through the Municipal Agriculture Office led by Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Edcelle M. Zabala, in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) headed by Regional Director Omnia B. Olama and OIC, BFAR PFOโ€“Surigao del Norte Mr. Bimbo C. Lagare, represented by Sir Ernanie B. Anding successfully conducted the Distribution of Fishing Gears to Bacuag Fisherfolks under the BFAR-SAAD Phase II and Regular Program 2026.

This initiative aims to strengthen the livelihood of local fisherfolks by providing fishing gears and other support that will help improve their productivity while promoting sustainable fishing practices within the municipality.

The activity brought together fisherfolk beneficiaries, partner organizations, and local officials in a shared commitment to uplift and empower the fishing community of Bacuag.

The LGU of Bacuag extends its heartfelt gratitude to BFAR, partner agencies, stakeholders, and all participants whose support and cooperation made this meaningful program possible. Through continued collaboration and service, we remain committed to building a more progressive, resilient, and sustainable future for our fisherfolks and the entire community.

The LGU-Bacuag, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Tessie Jean C. Nakao, through the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Edcelle M. Zabala, continues to show its commitment in supporting Organic Agriculture in the municipality.

Through the provision of needed agricultural inputs, support was extended to the Youth Intern of Bacuag and the Bacuag Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (BAFCO) to help strengthen their involvement in sustainable and organic farming practices. This initiative aims not only to support production but also to encourage our youth and farmers to appreciate the importance of agriculture in building a food-secure and sustainable community.

โœ… HIGHLIGHTS | May 18, 2026

The LGU-Bacuag, through the leadership of Mayor Tessie Jean Nakao, in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), successfully conducted the training entitled, โ€œStrengthening Community Resilience through Information and Education Campaign and Vegetable Seed Distribution for Disaster Preparedness,โ€ held at the Bacuag Womenโ€™s Center on May 18, 2026. The activity was participated in by Barangay Kagawads on Agriculture, farmers, and high school representatives.

The lectures focused on Family Disaster Preparedness, the impacts of Climate Change on Agriculture, and Basic Urban Gardening. Vegetable seeds , fertilizer and gardening tools were also distributed.

This activity supports the establishment of HAPAG Areas and Gulayan sa Paaralan as part of the municipalityโ€™s continuing efforts to promote food security, sustainable gardening, and community resilience.
