June 1, 2026 | Badoc, Ilocos Norte โ€” Marines of Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8), under the 4th Marine Brigade, participated in the simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony marking the kick-off of Menโ€™s Health Month 2026 across the Philippine Navy.

Anchored on the theme โ€œAll Hands Empowerment: Advancing Menโ€™s Health for Mission Readiness and Stronger Families,โ€ the activity highlighted the message of the Flag Officer in Command, Philippine Navy, Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta PN, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and holistic well-being in sustaining a mission-ready force.

The observance reinforced the Philippine Navyโ€™s commitment to prioritizing the health and welfare of its personnel as a foundation of operational readiness. MBLT-8 remains steadfast in promoting wellness initiatives that strengthen its Marines, support their families, and sustain operational effectiveness in service of the nation.

May 27, 2026 | Badoc, Ilocos Norte โ€” Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8) formally welcomed its newly reported Second Lieutenants and Privates through an Incorporation Ceremony marking their integration into the unit.

The Marines underwent physically and mentally demanding challenges, starting with a 3.2-kilometer Full Combat Run, followed by combat skill stations including weapons handling, ammo can press and carry, buddy drag, firemanโ€™s carry, map reading, and gr***de throwing. The activity tested endurance, discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

In his remarks, LTCOL MARC WYN T. UBALDO PN(M)(GSC), Commanding Officer, emphasized that incorporation signifies entry into a unit defined by discipline, professionalism, and mission accomplishment. He urged personnel to embody the STEP-UP philosophy: Strive for Excellence and Performance, Team Collaboration and Trust, Exemplify Ethical Leadership, Promote Personal Growth and Empowerment, Unite for a Shared Vision, and Prioritize Proactive Communication and Participation. He further challenged the newly reported Second Lieutenants to lead with competence and character, while Privates were reminded to pursue continuous self-development.

MBLT-8 remains committed to developing mission-ready Marines who are Ready, Specialized, and Reliable.

May 18โ€“22, 2026 | Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte โ€” Marines of Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 under the 4th Marine Brigade successfully completed the Mountain Operation Search and Rescue (MOSAR) Training facilitated by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Special Rescue Force Ilocos Norte at Brgy. Saguigui, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

Throughout the five-day training, participating Marines and inter-agency partners enhanced their competencies in search and rescue procedures, rope and technical rescue techniques, casualty evacuation, land navigation, and survival skills in rugged and mountainous environments. Through a series of practical exercises and realistic scenarios, they strengthened their capability to respond effectively to emergencies and support life-saving operations in difficult terrain.

Aligned with its vision of developing Most Ready, Specialized, and Reliable Marines, MBLT-8 continues to invest in professional development and specialized training that strengthens both operational readiness and humanitarian assistance and disaster response capabilities.

The event brought together runners from various sectors to promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and community engagement. The Marines joined fellow participants in support of initiatives that encourage healthy living, active lifestyles, and the strengthening of bonds among members of the community.

Through activities such as the Batac Sunrise Run 2026, MBLT-8 continues to strengthen its partnership with local government units, partner agencies, and communities in promoting wellness, unity, and shared commitment toward building a healthier and more resilient society.

May 11โ€“19, 2026 | Badoc, Ilocos Norte โ€” Marines of Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8) successfully concluded the Harris Radio Operations and Maintenance Training Class 01-26 during a closing ceremony held at Headquarters MBLT-8, Sitio 5, Brgy. 7-B, Sta. Cruz Sur, Badoc, Ilocos Norte.

Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker was Engr. Neil C. Jose, MSME, former National President of Pugad Lawin Philippines, Inc., and member of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Laoag Disaster Risk Reduction and Managementโ€“Emergency Response Teams (DRRM-ERTs) under the Radio Communication Group.

The training equipped participating Marines with the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Harris radio systems, ensuring reliable and secure communications during tactical operations, disaster response, and humanitarian assistance missions.

More than a technical course, the training underscored MBLT-8โ€™s continuing commitment to operational readiness and the enhancement of command and control capabilities. This initiative further strengthened the unitโ€™s ability to communicate effectively, coordinate efficiently, and accomplish missions across Northern Luzon and wherever duty calls.

May 13โ€“14, 2026 | Burgos, Pagudpud, and Badoc, Ilocos Norte โ€” Marines of Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8), under the 4th Marine Brigade, supported the conduct of the โ€œUnang Hakbang sa Kinabukasanโ€ Project of GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Schools Division of Ilocos Norte, benefiting selected public schools across the province.

The initiative aims to provide essential school supplies to underprivileged Kindergarten to Grade 2 learners, helping prepare them for the upcoming school year and encouraging them to continue pursuing education despite challenges.

As part of its continuing commitment to partner organizations and coastal communities, MBLT-8 assisted in the successful implementation of the outreach activity in the coastal municipalities of Burgos, Pagudpud, and Badoc, reinforcing the Battalionโ€™s role not only in territorial and coastal defense operations, but also in fostering stronger community relations and contributing to nation-building efforts.

Through initiatives such as this, MBLT-8 continues to strengthen its connection with the people it serves, recognizing that resilient and empowered communities are vital to both sustainable development and coastal defense.

May 12, 2026 | Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte โ€” The Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8), under the 4th Marine Brigade, supported the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1 in observance of Month of the Ocean 2026 at the Peopleโ€™s Hall in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

The activity gathered fisherfolk, local government representatives, and partner agencies to raise awareness on the importance of marine conservation, sustainable fishing practices, and the countryโ€™s coastal security. MBLT-8 joined the campaign in support of efforts to educate coastal communities on their vital role in preserving the nationโ€™s marine resources, including the West Philippine Sea.

Through its participation in activities such as this, MBLT-8 continues to strengthen its partnership with government agencies and coastal communities by promoting environmental stewardship, maritime awareness, and a shared commitment to safeguarding the countryโ€™s marine resources for future generations.

Held along the scenic coastline of Badoc, the event gathered runners from various sectors to promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Ilocos Norte. The Marines joined fellow participants in support of initiatives that encourage healthy living while highlighting the importance of preserving and protecting the provinceโ€™s coastal and marine resources.

Through activities such as the La Milagrosa Sundown Coastal Run 2026, MBLT-8 continues to strengthen its partnership with local government units, partner agencies, and communities in promoting wellness, environmental stewardship, and shared pride in the provinceโ€™s rich coastal heritage.
