BONTOC, Mountain Province – August 3, 2026, Brigadier General Darrell R. Bañez PA, Commander of the 501st Infantry (VALIANT) Brigade, Philippine Army, conducted a unit visitation to the 1403rd Community Defense Center (CDC), 14th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, in Bontoc, Mountain Province, reaffirming the vital role of the Reserve Force in strengthening the country's Territorial Defense posture and enhancing inter-agency preparedness for emergencies.
The visit formed part of the Brigade Commander's command engagement within the Brigade's expanded Area of Responsibility in the Cordillera Administrative Region. It aimed to assess the operational readiness of the Community Defense Center, strengthen collaboration between the Active and Reserve Components, and align reserve force initiatives with the Philippine Army' transition toward Territorial Defense Operations.
During the visit, Brig Gen Bañez received comprehensive briefings by LTC Vincent A Lauigan (AGS) PA, Director of 1403CDC on their unit's organizational structure, reserve force development programs, mobilization capabilities, training initiatives, and community engagement efforts. He also met with officers, enlisted personnel, reservists, commending their unwavering commitment to national service.
In his guidance, Brig Gen Bañez underscored that reservists are a critical force multiplier in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that as the AFP shifts its operational focus from Internal Security Operations to Territorial Defense Operations, the Reserve Force will play an increasingly significant role in force generation, mobilization, area security, sustainment operations and civil support.
The Brigade Commander likewise highlighted the importance of continuously strengthening interoperability among the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Reserve Command, local government units, national government agencies, the Philippine National Police, the Office of Civil Defense, and other stakeholders.
He emphasized the future plan to conduct inter-agency exercises designed to prepare participating organizations for coordinated responses during human-induced calamities and complex emergencies.
Brig Gen Bañez further encouraged reservists to continuously enhance their military competencies, leadership, and disaster response capabilities through sustained training and active participation in civil defense, humanitarian assistance, and community resilience programs. He stressed that a highly trained and mission-ready Reserve Force serves not only as a strategic military capability but also as an essential partner in nation-building and public service.

The 86th Infantry "Highlander" Battalion officially opened its Battalion Sportsfest 2026 on 01 August 2026 at its Headquarters in Brgy. Villaros, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

The activity brought together officers and enlisted personnel, from the battalion's five line companies—Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Headquarters and Headquarters Company. Each team proudly marched during the parade before the games officially began.

The first events featured larong-lahi or traditional Filipino games. Laughter and cheers echoed across the ground as the Highlanders encouraged one another and enjoyed the friendly competition. While each team aimed to perform well, the activity was ultimately about strengthening camaraderie, building teamwork, and taking a well-deserved break from the demands of military service.

Over the next several days, the Sportsfest will continue with military stakes and various ball games. The activity is expected to challenge the troops physically while reinforcing discipline, teamwork, and esprit de corps—qualities that remain essential both in training and in the performance of daily missions.

For the Highlander Battalion, the Sportsfest is more than an annual tradition. It is a chance for soldiers to step away briefly from the demands of military operations, build stronger relationships with one another, and return to duty with renewed energy.

𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗥 𝗙 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗔 𝗖𝗥𝗨𝗭, 𝗨𝗽𝗶, 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝘂, 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 – The 5th Infantry "Star" Division officially opened the Kalasag ng Katungkulan: Strengthening the Command Chain for a Multi Mission Ready Army (KLEP) Company Commanders CY 2026 on August 3, 2026, at Padiernos Hall. The program brings together company commanders from across the Division for a leadership development course designed to strengthen command capabilities, improve decision making, and enhance mission readiness.
Brigadier General Romualdo Raymund B. Landingin, Assistant Division Commander of the 5th Infantry Division, served as the keynote speaker. He reminded the participants that effective leadership begins at the company level, where commanders directly influence the morale, discipline, and performance of their soldiers. He encouraged them to take full advantage of the training and apply the lessons in leading their units with competence, integrity, and commitment.
The KLEP 2026 reflects the 5th Infantry Division's continuing investment in developing capable leaders who can respond to evolving operational demands while strengthening the command chain and building a more professional, disciplined, and mission ready Philippine Army.

The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Isabela, under the leadership of HON. RODOLFO T. ALBANO, Provincial Governor, provided rice assistance to the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) personnel rendering duty in the province in recognition of their continued commitment and dedication to maintaining peace and security. A total of 505 sacks of 10-kilogram rice were turned over to Delta Company of 86IB on 29 July 2026. The initiative was made possible through the assistance of MS. LLYNETTE SHEILA R. BINASOY, the Battalion’s active partner and consultant, who facilitated the coordination with the PLGU of Isabela. The assistance reflects the provincial government’s appreciation for the invaluable contributions of CAA personnel in supporting government peace and security efforts within the community.

The 86IB expressed its gratitude to PLGU Isabela and Ms. Binasoy for their continued support, emphasizing that such partnerships strengthen the morale and welfare of CAA personnel who remain committed to serving their communities.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | The 5th Infantry "STAR" Division joined the nationwide simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony in observance of the 77th Anniversary of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 77th International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Commemoration with the theme, “Pinalakas na Ugnayan at Pagkakaisa sa Pagsulong ng IHL.”

The ceremony was led by Major General Gulliver L. Señires, Commander of the 5ID, together with officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resource members of the Division.

As part of the program, MGen Señires read the messages of General Antonio G. Nafarrete, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Lt. Gen. Donald M. Gumiran, Commanding General, Philippine Army, emphasizing the Armed Forces' unwavering commitment to uphold International Humanitarian Law and strengthen respect for human dignity during armed conflict.

The commemoration highlighted the Philippine Army's continuing commitment to protecting civilians, observing the rule of law, and fostering stronger partnerships in advancing International Humanitarian Law, in line with this year's theme.

Pinangunahan ang nasabing aktibidad ng Planters Farmers PAMANA Association, sa pamumuno ni Ginoong Narciso Jornadal, Pangulo ng nasabing samahan, katuwang ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at mga kawani ng nasabing paaralan.
Isinagawa ang feeding program bilang bahagi ng mga gawaing pangkapayapaan at adbokasiya ng samahan, na naglalayong itaguyod ang pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan, at kapakanan ng mga kabataan at ng buong pamayanan.
Patuloy ang suporta at pakikiisa ng 17th Infantry Battalion sa mga programa at inisyatibang nakatuon sa kapakanan ng mamamayan. Sa pamamagitan ng aktibong pakikipagtulungan sa mga ahensya, lokal na pamahalaan, paaralan, organisasyon, at iba pang katuwang sa komunidad, layunin ng yunit na higit pang mapalakas ang pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan para sa patuloy na kapayapaan at kaunlaran sa lalawigan ng Cagayan.
