Today, as we celebrate the Philippine Independence Day, we also commemorate the birthday of our dear Former Senator and Labor Secretary Ramon Araneta Torres, whose significant contributions to the Labor sector are unparalleled.

Being the first Secretary of Labor, he authored the 8-hour labor law among others. He introduced and oversaw numerous reforms such as the mandatory medical attention for workers, the passage of Commonwealth Act 213 which defined and regulated labor unions, and the Workmen's Compensation Act.

As a beloved son of Bago City, he wrote the Bago City Charter. He was the founder and patron of the now Ramon Torres National High School.

My Dearest Bagonhons,

It has been my honor to serve you. From the smallest barangay concern to the largest city-wide efforts, I have always strived to lead with integrity, compassion, and dedication. I am truly grateful for and deeply humbled by the outpouring of love and support and the unwavering faith you have entrusted me, my family, and my leadership all these years. My journey may have ended here but my passion and earnest desire to serve and give back to our beloved city and you, my constituents, remain strong as ever.

To the whole Go Bago Team, our volunteers, supporters, friends, and family — thank you for standing by me. Your sacrifice, hard work, and commitment carried us through this journey with dignity and strength.

As I pass the baton to the Go Bago Team and the newly elected officials, I fervently hope and pray that the city continues with its growth and prosperity.

To all Bagonhons — madamo guid nga salamat! Let us continue to work together, love our city, and move forward united.
