𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗣𝟳𝟱 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗙𝗘𝗘 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗘𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗦

Barangays in Baguio City have started collecting the P75 monthly garbage fee per household this September under City Ordinance No. 69, series of 2026.

Liga ng mga Barangay President Rocky M. Aliping informed the city’s 128 Punong Barangays of the implementation and urged them to begin collecting the fee from households served by the city’s garbage collection system.

Payments shall be made directly at the barangay, allowing Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) to receive their 50 percent share of the collections. The share may increase based on collection efficiency, with barangays achieving full collection entitled to receive up to 75 percent.

Aliping reminded Punong Barangays to take note of the ordinance’s provisions, particularly those covering discounts, surcharges, and proper collection procedures.

The ordinance covers households, commercial establishments, institutions, business enterprises, and other entities generating solid waste within Baguio City that are served by the city’s garbage collection system. It provides different garbage fees for establishments based on their type of business, capacity, number of employees, beds, rooms, seats, or enrollees.

The ordinance provides 10 percent discounts for taxpayers who pay their annual garbage fees on or before April 20 each year, while those paying quarterly on or before the 20th day of the month following each quarter will get a 5 percent discount.

Late payments will be subject to a 25 percent surcharge and 2 percent monthly interest until fully paid.

The ordinance also provides for a periodic review of garbage fee rates with a 10 percent automatic increase every three years beginning 2027. - JM Samidan

Weekly Clean-up Drive (Sept. 11, 2026) Vendors’ Initiative for Cleanliness at the Talipapa. The vendors themselves have taken the lead in conducting regular clean‑up drives at the Talipapa. Their collective effort ensures that the market site remains clean and safe for both sellers and buyers. Activities include brushing, sweeping, and thorough cleaning of stalls and surrounding areas, preventing waste accumulation and promoting a healthier environment. 31st week

For a Cleaner and Healthier Community

📌 1. Plastic Trash Bags

The use of black plastic trash bags is no longer allowed.

Residents are encouraged to use white or colored plastic bags so that garbage contents can be easily checked if properly segregated.

For those who purchased black bags in bulk, you may use them during the transition period. Once consumed, please switch to white/colored bags only.

📌 2. Garbage Collection Schedule

Garbage disposal is allowed only every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at designated collection sites.

Throwing garbage too early or too late causes scattering and creates an eyesore in our community.

🚫 Strictly Not Allowed at Collection Sites:

Construction debris (wood, tiles, etc.)

Dog f***s and cat litter

Bulky items such as beds, sofas, and similar furniture

📌 3. Proper Segregation
All garbage must be segregated into:

🌱 Nabubulok (Biodegradable) – food scraps

🗑️ Di Nabubulok (Non‑Biodegradable) – plastics, styrofoam, sachets

♻️ Recyclable – bottles, cans, paper, cardboard

⚠️ Hazardous Waste – batteries, chemicals, medical waste

📌 4. Children’s Safety

Children below 15 years old are no longer allowed to collect trash from neighbors in exchange for money.

This is to ensure their safety from health hazards and road accidents.

Children may only assist in garbage disposal if accompanied by an adult.

✅ Residents are urged to comply for a cleaner environment, healthier families, and a more disciplined community.
