LOOK: The Philippine National Police formally opened the 2-day Workshop on the Crafting of the PNP ICT Master Plan 2026โ€“2030, aimed at revisiting, enhancing, and updating the organizationโ€™s existing ICT roadmap to ensure its continued relevance and responsiveness to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, PLTGEN Bernard M Banac, The Acting Deputy Chief PNP for Administration, emphasized the importance of strengthening the PNPโ€™s information and communications technology capabilities in support of more effective, efficient, and responsive police service. The workshop gathers key personnel and stakeholders to collaboratively develop a future-ready ICT framework that will guide the organizationโ€™s digital transformation initiatives from 2026 to 2030.

The activity also builds on the gains of the previous PNP ICT Master Plan approved in 2018, whose implementation roadmap covered Calendar Years 2020โ€“2025. Through this undertaking, the PNP aims to align its ICT programs, systems, and innovations with the demands of modern policing and public service.

This initiative reflects the organizationโ€™s continuing commitment to institutional development and innovation under the banner of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

Three police officers turned an ordinary evening into a lifesaving mission when they responded without hesitation to a vehicular accident in Barangay Anninipan, Flora, Apayao, on May 8, 2026.

A call from a concerned citizen set them in motion. PCpl Jayson Quilang, Pat Ramil Dela Pena, and Pat Joemar Liegen did not pause to measure the limits of their job descriptionโ€”they simply moved. Arriving at the scene, they found two injured men, one from San Jose and the other a resident of Barangay Anninipan, and immediately took charge.

The responding officers stabilized both victims at the scene, secured the accident site, and promptly transported the two men to the Birthing Center in Barangay Anninipan for further medical evaluation. Both victims were safe and later went home to their families after receiving proper medical care.

Their actions reflected no hesitation, only instinct. PCpl Quilang, a member of PSBRC Class 2019-02 "GILAS DIWA"; Pat Dela Pena, a member of PSBRC Class 2020-02 "Tindig Gasat"; and Pat Liegen, a member of PSBRC Class 2020-03 "Bagsik-Alab"โ€”each brought more than training to that roadside. They brought the understanding that a uniform means nothing if it does not bend toward saving a life.

WANTED PERSON IN 2025 MURDER CASE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERS IN BULACAN

A 37-year-old Filipino male voluntarily surrendered following the service of a warrant of arrest for murder in Baliwag, Bulacan on the afternoon of May 12, 2026.

Personnel of the Baliwag City Police Station, through a tracker team, facilitated the voluntary surrender of the accused after sustained intelligence monitoring and continuous coordination with his family and close contacts. The accused is reportedly a member of a local criminal group operating in Bulacan.

The warrant of arrest, issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Third Judicial Region, Branch 9 in Malolos, Bulacan on January 6, 2026, carries no bail recommended for the murder case involving an incident in June 2025 in Baliwag, Bulacan.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating unit for the accomplishment, underscoring the importance of sustained police effort and coordination in locating wanted persons.

โ€œHinihikayat natin ang mga taong may kinakaharap na kaso na makipagtulungan at sumunod sa batas. Ang boluntaryong pagsuko ay mahalagang hakbang upang maharap nang maayos ang kanilang mga kaso sa tamang proseso ng hustisya,โ€ he said.

The accused was turned over to the custody of the Baliwag City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.

The successful operation forms part of the PNPโ€™S continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing intelligence-driven initiatives and targeted law enforcement actions in support of public safety objectives aligned with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The PNP reiterated its commitment to proactive policing and community partnership in support of safer communities under โ€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.โ€
