UNIFIED 911 CALL SAVES MOM AND BABY: PNP QUICKLY APPREHENDS SUSPECT IN TONDO
In a swift response to a distress call, the Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Gagalangin Police Community Precinct (P*P) and Raxabago Police Station, successfully arrested a 26-year-old security guard for the violation of Physical Injuries in relation to Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as the “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.”
The incident occurred on December 15, 2025, at around 7:00 AM inside a rented house in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila, where the suspect allegedly inflicted physical injuries on his 36-year-old live-in partner while she was holding their eight-month-old baby.
According to the victim, identified as a dental secretary, the suspect forced her into sexual act, which she refused. This led to verbal abuse and subsequent physical assault. Fearing for her life and that of her child, the victim immediately sought assistance by dialing the Unified 911 Hotline, prompting the rapid deployment of police personnel.
Responding officers from Gagalangin P*P and PS1, Raxabago Police Station arrived promptly and rescued the victim. The suspect was positively identified and apprehended in front of the victim’s rented house in Tondo, Manila at around 9:00 AM. He was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood but opted to remain silent.
The victim was assisted and subjected to a medico-legal examination at Tondo Medical Center, while the suspect was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk on the same day. He remains in police custody as documents are being prepared for the filing of a criminal complaint.
Acting Chief PNP PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the quick response of the personnel, highlighting the importance of the Unified 911 system:
“Salamat sa mabilis na pagtugon ng ating Unified 911 hotline system, agad nating nailigtas ang biktima at ang kanyang sanggol. Sa ganitong sitwasyon, bawat segundo ay mahalaga, at proud ako sa ating mga kapulisan sa kanilang agarang aksyon,” said Acting Chief PNP PLTGEN Nartatez.
He further urged the public: “I encourage everyone to report incidents of abuse and violence. Ready ang ating mga pulis na agad tumugon. Hindi natin papayagan ang karahasan laban sa kababaihan at mga bata sa ating komunidad,” dagdag pa niya.
