COCONUT PALACE REOPENS

PASAY CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos led the ceremonial reopening of the Coconut Palace (Tahanang Pilipino) following its conservation and renovation.

Designed by National Artist Francisco “Bobby” Mañosa and completed in 1978, the landmark showcases Filipino architecture, craftsmanship, and locally sourced materials. It will resume serving as a venue for official, diplomatic, and cultural events, including the 49th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit in November.

President Marcos stressed the importance of preserving heritage sites that hold the stories, traditions, art and experiences that have shaped the nation.

THE FIRST FILIPINO ELECTRIC VEHICLE ON THE GLOBAL STAGE

Francisco Motors, the iconic company that started making Philippine jeepneys in 1947, founded by Anastacio Trinidad Francisco in Zapote, Las Piñas now has a new electric car called the Elektron. It is a clean, battery-powered five-seater compact SUV made for everyday driving. The car looks modern with bright LED lights, offers plenty of legroom, and has a big trunk for storage. Drivers can choose from three different versions, ranging from a basic model that travels around 400 kilometers on a single charge to a top-tier model that goes up to 600 kilometers and speeds up very fast. Best of all, fast-charging stations can fill the battery in only 30 minutes.

Inside the Elektron, there are two large touchscreens on the dashboard for music, maps and car settings, along with an AI assistant named DOMENG to help you while driving. Higher models include cozy heated seats, a large glass roof, wireless phone charging, and safety tools like automatic emergency braking and 360-degree cameras. The car starts at ₱1,947,000, and Francisco Motors released a special first edition limited to just 1,947 units to honor the year the company began. With the Elektron, this long-time local brand is helping lead the way into the future of electric cars.

Can a legendary Filipino jeepney maker succeed in the world of high-tech electric SUVs? Would you drive the new Francisco Motors Elektron over global EV brands like BYD or Tesla?

SB19 IS PHILIPPINES’ NEWEST TOURISM AMBASSADORS! 🇵🇭

The Department of Tourism has named P-Pop group SB19 as the country’s newest Tourism Ambassadors.

The announcement came after the DOT sent them a “Galingbayan” box ahead of their US and Japan tour. Members confirmed the role on social media.

Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay praised SB19’s global influence in drawing fans—especially Filipino-Americans and those in ASEAN—to visit the Philippines.
As ambassadors, they will promote Philippine culture and tourism to their worldwide fanbase A’TIN.

This coincides with historic milestones: on July 29, SB19 will be the first Filipino group to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game, and on July 30, the first Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago. They will also appear at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan alongside fellow ambassadors BINI.
