BCHS Journalists Make their Mark at DSPC

The Pinetree (English Publication) and Ang Bagiw (Filipino Publication) participated in the Division School Press Conference (DSPC) on September 11–12 at the SDO Training Center and Baguio City SPED Center. The results were posted on September 22 through Division Memorandum No. 630 series of 2026.

Overall, The Pinetree earned 5 first-place, 2 second-place, 1 third-place, 1 fourth-place, and 1 fifth-place awards. Ang Bagiw secured 4 first-place, 1 second-place, 2 third-place, and 1 fourth-place awards across individual and group categories.

The National Federation of Supreme Secondary Learner Government (NFSSLG) participated in the Validation Workshop on the Department of Education’s Governance and Operations Manual, organized with the support and coordination of the Office of the Undersecretary for Governance and Operations (OUGOPS).

Among the learner representatives was Zheanne Avery D. Ramirez, President of the CAR Regional Federation of Supreme Secondary Learner Government (CAR RFSSLG), who joined fellow representatives from Regions I, III, IV-A, and the National Capital Region (NCR) in the meaningful policy engagement.

The workshop provided an avenue for learner representatives to share perspectives and recommendations toward strengthening DepEd’s governance systems, functions, and processes. The NFSSLG emphasized the importance of meaningful learner participation at all governance levels through the Learner Government under the Youth Formation Division (YFD).

Through this engagement, the NFSSLG reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that learners are not merely recipients of education policies but active partners in shaping a more responsive, inclusive, and learner-centered education system.

On the Reported Bullying Incident at Baguio City High School

Baguio City High School (BCHS) strongly condemns all forms of bullying, violence, harassment, intimidation, and other prohibited acts that compromise the safety and well-being of our learners. The school remains committed to providing a safe, respectful, and child-friendly learning environment.

Regarding the recent incident that circulated on social media, the school had already taken immediate and appropriate action by initiating an investigation and conducting conferences with the learners involved and their respective parents/guardians even before the incident was circulated on social media. At the time video of the incident was posted on social media, the school’s investigation and related proceedings were still ongoing.

In addressing the matter, the school observed the applicable Department of Education policies and procedures on learner discipline, child protection, and the prevention and management of bullying.

Appropriate disciplinary measures and interventions will be undertaken, while support and guidance are likewise being provided to the learners involved.

APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC

As the learners involved are minors, the school cannot disclose confidential details of the case. BCHS respectfully appeals to the public to protect their privacy and refrain from speculation or actions that may further affect the learners involved.

Baguio City High School assures the public that it will continue to uphold due process, child protection, and the best interests of every learner, while strengthening its efforts to prevent bullying and promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school community.

CONGRATULATIONS FROM YOUR BCHS FAMILY!

Maryjkea Euine “Mika” C. Ocampo, a Baguio City High School alumni, is a professional free lance model and has been through multiple National Modelling competitions representing Baguio City and Benguet Province, she was chosen among several beauty candidates as Miss World Tourism Philippines Teen 2026 to represent the Philippines in her first International Pageant held in Bali, Indonesia last Aug 3-8, 2026. She was announced the Grand winner for the title Miss World Tourism Teens 2026 on August 8, 2026 making history for the Philippines as its first win.

Maryjkea graduated both junior high school and senior high school in BCHS with honors and finished Arts and Design as her track during senior high. During her Senior High School days, she actively participated in Extra Curricular activities showcasing her artistic skills together with her classmates through the mural painting still displayed on the walls of the school near the Alumni Building. She has also completed some oil paintings which are now displayed at MCO VISION CENTER Baguio City and Makati Branches; moreover her passion in digital arts also continues up to date with some sold online. She is currently a freshman at National University MOA Campus taking up Doctor of Optometry and hopes to become an Eye Surgeon in the future.

BAGUIO CITY HIGH SCHOOL CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN CAMPUS SAFETY THROUGH ROUTINE BAG INSPECTION

In its continuing commitment to providing a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment, Baguio City High School conducted a routine bag inspection as part of its school safety and security measures in accordance with DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026.

The activity was carried out through the collaborative efforts of the school administration, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and school security personnel, with the valuable support of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and personnel from Barangay Burnham, Legarda. Their continued partnership reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding the welfare of every learner, teacher, employee, and visitor within the school community.

To ensure the orderly flow of individuals entering the campus, members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Color Cadets actively assisted in maintaining the queues and guiding learners and other entrants to the designated inspection lanes. Their assistance contributed significantly to the smooth, organized, and efficient conduct of the activity.
As part of the implementation, all individuals entering the school premises—including learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, visitors, and other stakeholders—were subjected to the prescribed bag inspection procedure. The inspection was conducted in an orderly, respectful, and non-intrusive manner, consistent with the provisions of DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026.

The routine bag inspection serves as a proactive measure to help prevent the entry of prohibited items into the school premises while fostering a culture of discipline, vigilance, and shared responsibility among members of the school community. As this activity is now part of the school's routine safety and security measures, members of the school community can expect its regular conduct in support of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
Safety is everyone's responsibility. Together, we build a safer Baguio City High School.
