📰 From CAR to NSPC: Agamang of Bakakeng ES Shines at RSPC 2026

Another milestone has been achieved by Agamang – the Official Filipino School Paper of Bakakeng Elementary School after being awarded 1st Place for Best Page Design and Layout during the Cordillera Administrative Region Regional Schools Press Conference (CAR RSPC) 2026, held in Bangued, Abra from March 10–13, 2026.

With its exceptional creativity and excellence in newspaper design, Agamang also earned the following recognitions:
🥇 1st Place – Best Page Design and Layout (NSPC 2026 Qualifier)
🏅 7th Place – Best Sports Section
🏅 10th Place – Best Science and Technology Section
🏅 7th Best School Paper in the Cordillera Administrative Region

This achievement is the result of the hard work, talent, and dedication of the young campus journalists together with their coach, Ms. Neniruth Cabrera Maguensay. It also reflects the continuing growth and excellence of the learners of Bakakeng Elementary School in the field of campus journalism.

Bakakeng Elementary School proudly garnered 1st Place in the Small Garden Category during the School-Based Landscaping Competition of the Panagbenga Festival. The awarding was held on March 8, 2026 at Melvin Jones Grandstand, Baguio City.

The competition showcased the creativity and environmental awareness of different schools through beautifully designed gardens and landscaped areas. Bakakeng Elementary School stood out for its well-planned garden, vibrant flowers, and sustainable landscaping design, which reflected both creativity and teamwork.

The winning garden was the result of the collective effort of the school administration, teachers, and supportive community members, who worked together to transform a simple space into a colorful and refreshing environment for learners.

Naomi Berol Clinches Gold in Northern Luzon Karatedo Tilt

The SSKI (Shin Shin Karatedo Inc.) Northern Luzon Karatedo Championships was successfully held on February 8, 2026 at the Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet. The event gathered talented young karatekas from different parts of Northern Luzon, showcasing discipline, determination, and excellence in the art of Karatedo.

Among the outstanding participants was Naomi Berol, a Grade 6 learner from Bakakeng Elementary School, who proudly earned the Gold Medal in the 10–11 years old Beginners Kata Category.

Kata, which focuses on precision of movements, proper form, balance, power, and mastery of technique, demands both physical control and strong mental focus. Competing in the beginners category, Naomi demonstrated exceptional confidence, sharp ex*****on, and discipline beyond her years—qualities that truly embody the spirit of karate.

Her remarkable achievement not only brings pride to her family and school but also serves as an inspiration to fellow learners who aspire to excel in both academics and sports. Winning gold at a regional championship highlights her dedication to training and commitment to continuous improvement.

Naganap ang Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) sa Lungsod ng Baguio noong Pebrero 6–8, 2026, na nilahukan ng lahat ng pampublikong paaralan at ilang pribadong institusyon sa lungsod.

Ang DSPC ay isang prestihiyosong kompetisyon kung saan nagtatagisan ng husay ang mga batang mamamahayag sa iba’t ibang larangan tulad ng pagsusulat, pagbabalita, pagdidisenyo, at pagkuha ng larawan.

Muling nagbigay karangalan ang Agamang, opisyal na pahayagan ng Bakakeng Elementary School, sa pamamagitan ng pagsungkit ng mga parangal sa iba’t ibang kategorya. Ipinamalas ng ating mga mag-aaral ang kanilang talento, dedikasyon, at kahusayan sa larangan ng pamamahayag.

The school would like to formally express its deepest gratitude to Mr. Fernando S. Tiong,
President of the Baguio Burnham Lions Club, for the generous donation of materials for the School Reading Hub.

This meaningful donation was successfully extended to the school through Kagawad Benito O. Silvino of Barangay Bakakeng Norte/Sur on January 23, 2026.

The donated materials will significantly contribute to the enhancement of the School Reading Hub and will greatly support the development of our learners’ reading skills. This act of generosity reflects a strong commitment to education and community partnership.

On January 8-11, 2026 from 7:30AM to 4:30PM Bakakeng Elementary School District 10 joined the Palarong Panlungsod of Football Tournament held at Melvin Jones Open Field led by Sir Wilfred Apid - - Coach and Trainor, Ma'am Norvelyn S.Payaket - - Assistant Coach under the supervision of Sir Jimmy B. Garcia Jr. - - School Principal, garnered Third Runner Up among 11 schools.

The players of BES who courageously represented the school were Ivan Miguel C. Portugal, Jay-ron Dee Sescon, Jester Lee Ramos, Ivan Louie R. Loman, Aethan Claude P. Cacas, Skhye Xavier C. Mapili, Budz Lagazon, Kai-Fher O. Domingo, Zione Khent R. Budeng, Cristian Jesus M. Vera, Marcus Mateus B. Angaga, Marckie T. Mangili , Ike C. Dontogan, Dwayne Zachary B. Balabag and Khian Kyle B. Maicle.

The determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship of the young athletes depicts that Bakakeng Elementary School can excel beyond imagination through the prayers and support of their teachers, parents, BES Family, and colleagues that gave them motivation and confidence. Bakakeng Elementary School held a meaningful closing program to conclude its participation in the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), observed annually from November 25 to December 12. ‎ The lecture conducted by Personnel of RMFB15 Project Kalinga Team led by PLT RUBY ROSE D PESASE, under the supervision of PLTCOL JOEY JONATHAN B BAGAYAO, Force Commander. The team helped strengthen public awareness and encouraged everyone present to take an active role in fostering a safer, more compassionate, and nurturing environment for women and children.

The closing activity brought together students, teachers, and school staff in reflecting on lessons learned throughout the campaign. Highlights of the program included messages emphasizing the importance of kindness, respect, and support for survivors of violence, as well as reminders on how each student and adult can contribute to a safer, more respectful school environment.

📚✨ Strengthening School–Community Partnership through a City Library Tour ✨📚

Bakakeng Elementary School successfully conducted an educational City Library Tour in partnership with our supportive Barangay LGU, led by Education Committee Chair Kag. Evelyn P. Balisong, together with Kag. Precy King-eo and Kag. James Aclopen. The activity was facilitated by Teacher Judith B. Roque and Teacher Mila M. Lubosen, with the support of SPTA President Sir Benson Domingo and parent representative Sir Jefferson Pagao.

Our 29 learners enjoyed storytelling and interactive literacy activities facilitated by senior high school work immersion students and the Baguio City Public Library staff. City Librarian Ms. Easter Wahayna-Pablo also gave an orientation on the library’s services and facilities.

The day ended with another storytelling session at the Children’s Park and a shared lunch, making the experience both fun and meaningful for our learners. Thank you to everyone who made this activity possible! 💙📖

Isang makulay at matagumpay na Palarong Lungsod sa Badminton ang naganap nitong December 4–6, 2025, kung saan nagtagisan ng galing ang pinakamahuhusay na manlalaro mula sa 10 distrito ng Lungsod ng Baguio.

Ipinagmamalaki ng lahat ang District 10 Badminton Elementary Team, na kinabibilangan ng mga batang atleta mula sa:

🏸 Berkeley School
🏸 San Vicente Elementary School

Sa kabila ng matinding laban at mahigpit na kompetisyon, matagumpay na nakapag-uwi ng BRONZE MEDAL ang District 10 sa Singles B, isang patunay ng kanilang sipag, disiplina, at pusong palaban sa kabila ng kakulangan ng court at kagamitan🥉💪

Mula sa bawat matinding rally hanggang sa bawat panalo, dala ng ating young shuttlers ang dangal at pride ng buong distrito.

Bakakeng Elementary School Actively Supports the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women

Bakakeng Elementary School proudly joined the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) from November 25 to December 12, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all learners. Guided by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and supported by DepEd’s continuous advocacy for child protection and gender equality, the school conducted various activities that highlighted awareness, education, and collective action.

With this year’s theme focusing on promoting a violence-free community, Bakakeng Elementary School organized meaningful events aimed at teaching learners the importance of respect, empathy, and the protection of women and girls. Teachers, pupils, and school personnel actively participated in the campaign through classroom discussions, interactive activities, and information drives.
