OOK | Rescue teams from the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS), working alongside the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Health Unit (MHU), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of La Trinidad, immediately responded to a landslide incident along Shilan Road near Bakaan Eatery in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet, on August 6, 2026.
Brought about by continuous heavy rains, the landslide sent mud, rocks, and debris onto the roadway, damaging part of an establishment and leaving several individuals stranded. Search and rescue operations remain in full swing as responders work together to reach affected persons, secure the area, and minimize further risks amid the prevailing weather conditions.

PNP FOILS ₱15-M ILLICIT CIGARETTE SHIPMENT IN DUMAGUETE, 3 ARRESTED
The Philippine National Police (PNP), together with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and other law enforcement partners, intercepted an estimated ₱15.07 million worth of illicit ci******es during an intelligence-driven anti-smuggling operation at the Port Area in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on the evening of August 5, resulting in the arrest of three male suspects.
Acting on validated intelligence reports, authorities intercepted a cargo truck shortly after it arrived aboard a roll-on/roll-off vessel from Mindanao. Recovered during the operation were 263 master cases of suspected illicit ci******es, along with the delivery vehicle and other cargo being transported.
Arrested were a 32-year-old truck driver and his two passengers, aged 22 and 27. They are facing charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 12022 or the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and Republic Act No. 10643 or the Graphic Health Warnings Law.
The successful operation demonstrates the PNP's sustained use of intelligence-led operations and strong inter-agency coordination in combating smuggling and other economic offenses. It also advances the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, while supporting President Ferdinand R.
