PALAWAN WAGYU BREEDING CAMPAIGN
The Palawan Wagyu Farmers Association (PWFA), in collaboration with the Philippine Wagyu Association (PWA), has finalized plans to import 3 pure Wagyu bulls and 16 heifers from Australia to officially launch its herd upgrading program.
The foundational numbers were locked in following a critical PWA members' meeting, marking the historic arrival of the very first Wagyu breeders in the province.
The high-value livestock are scheduled to undergo a mandatory one-month quarantine in South Cotabato before being shipped directly to Palawan by November 2026.
The foundation herd will be split into two strategic, in Taytay Town (Toro ng Bayan Program), to pioneer a community-focused breeding initiative and PWFA Managed Group.
By introducing these world-class Australian genetics, local cattlemen will crossbreed pure Wagyu with native herds like Brahman crosses. This blends superior marbling traits with the tropical heat tolerance and disease resistance of local stock.
To support the intensive nutritional demands of the new herd, the PWFA is scaling up a dual livestock-crop framework.
Farmers are expanding sorghum cultivation to harvest nutrient-rich stalks and leaves for high-quality silage, ensuring a reliable, cost-effective feed supply.
Every crossbred calf will be logged into a centralized Genetic Database to secure official PWA Pedigree Certificates, guaranteeing meat authenticity and preventing inbreeding.
By establishing a steady local supply of premium, marbling-grade Wagyu, the program will directly fuel the culinary needs of Palawan’s elite resorts and restaurants, positioning the province as a premier eco-luxury food tourism destination.
