The 𝟭𝟴-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻, observed every 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟮, calls for collective action to eliminate all forms of abuse against women. This advocacy is closely linked to 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 work, as VAW cases are considered 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 cases requiring proper medical evaluation, psychological assessment, documentation, and coordination with legal processes.
In many VAW incidents handled at BGHMC, survivors present with physical, sexual, psychological, or combined forms of abuse. These cases must be carefully examined, documented, and managed, as the findings may serve as essential evidence should the survivor choose to pursue legal action. This is why BGHMC’s Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU) is central to the hospital’s role in the campaign.
The WCPU provides a multidisciplinary, survivor-centered approach, ensuring that women and children receive:
✔️ Immediate medical treatment for injuries and physical harm
✔️ Comprehensive medicolegal examination and documentation, including forensic evidence collection
✔️ Psychological first aid and psychosocial support, acknowledging that trauma is both physical and emotional
✔️ Follow-up psychosocial and counseling services, helping survivors cope with fear, anxiety, and long-term psychological effects
✔️ Assistance in navigating legal pathways, in coordination with law enforcement and social welfare agencies
