Our Mandate

The Department of Education was established through the Education Decree of 1863 as the Superior Commission of Primary Instruction under a Chairman. The Education agency underwent many reorganization efforts in the 20th century in order to better define its purpose vis a vis the changing administrations and charters. The present day Department of Education was eventually mandated through Republic Act 9155, otherwise known as the Governance of Basic Education act of 2001 which establishes the mandate of this agency. The Department of Education (DepEd) formulates, implements, and coordinates policies, plans, programs and projects in the areas of formal and non-formal basic education. It supervises all elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative learning systems, both public and private; and provides for the establishment and maintenance of a complete, adequate, and integrated system of basic education relevant to the goals of national development.

Adiwang Integrated School continues to promote sustainable and environment-friendly gardening practices through its Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, with composting being integrated into the schoolโ€™s gardening activities.

The school practices composting by utilizing biodegradable materials such as dried leaves, grass clippings, and other suitable organic waste materials as natural sources of nutrients for the school garden. This practice helps reduce waste while producing organic matter that can enrich the soil and support the healthy growth of vegetables.

Through the initiative, learners and school personnel are encouraged to appreciate the importance of proper waste management, soil care, and sustainable food production. Composting also reinforces the value of turning available resources into something beneficial for the school community.

The schoolโ€™s Gulayan serves not only as a source of fresh vegetables but also as a living laboratory for learning, where learners gain practical knowledge about gardening, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices.

Adiwang Integrated School remains committed to strengthening its Gulayan initiatives and promoting a culture of sustainabilityโ€”one garden and one compost pile at a time.

The meeting also tackled plans for a Clean and Green activity to promote cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and active participation among school stakeholders.

Other school and PTA concerns were likewise raised and discussed, providing an avenue for the SPTA and school leadership to strengthen coordination, address emerging needs, and support the effective implementation of school programs and activities.

The meeting reflects the continuing commitment of the SPTA and school leadership to work together in promoting a safe, clean, supportive, and conducive learning environment for all learners of Adiwang Integrated School.

Each pack included essential items such as noodles, coffee, milk, canned goods, hygiene kits, and other basic provisions needed by families during challenging times.

The generous initiative reflects the spirit of bayanihan and community care, especially during calamities when families are most vulnerable. Beyond the material assistance, the donation serves as a reminder to the learners that there are people and organizations willing to extend a helping hand and stand with them in times of need.
