On March 26, 2026 the Municipality of Bakun, presented RESOLUTION NO. 49-2026 EXPRESSING PROFOUND CONDOLENCES AND SYMPATHY TO THE BEREAVED FAMILY OF THE LATE MR. IVAN TANDOC RUFINO OF BARANGAYS AMPUSONGAN AND POBLACION, BAKUN, BENGUET
The Municipality of Bakun, Benguet,and the entire Cordillera region mourn the untimely passing of Mr. Ivan Tandoc Rufino, a gifted local artist and composer, who departed from this life on March 21, 2026, due to a tragic vehicular accident.
Mr. Rufino, born on September 30, 1985, is the beloved son of Mrs. Maria Tandoc-Rufino, a retired teacher of Ampusongan National High School and the late Mr. David Rufino, an active community member.
Ivan is married to Rhea Palitayan Rufino and a loving father to their two children, Dirk Sebastian and Kiera Mae.
Ivan completed his primary and secondary education at Ampusongan Elementary School and Ampusongan National High School, respectively, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.
Ivan is a gifted, humble, and well-loved individual whose original musical compositions and soul-stirring performances as a singer, including cherished"kankana-ey" songs like "Kamanina," "Udan," "Biag," "Sungbat," and "Paradaan," among many others that have touched countless hearts, have beautifully captured the spirit and soul of the Cordilleran people.
His artistic contributions have not only enriched the cultural landscape of the region but have also brought immense pride and recognition to the Municipality of Bakun, showcasing the depth of local talent.
Ivan's legacy as an artist, a family man, and a cherished member of the community will continue to inspire and resonate, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his music and his spirit.
