👀: The Sangguniang Bayan of Balangiga conducted a public hearing on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Covered Court of Barangay San Miguel, Balangiga, Eastern Samar, to present, discuss, and deliberate on the proposed ordinance establishing the Bakod Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Barangay San Miguel.
The public hearing provided an opportunity for the residents and stakeholders of Barangay San Miguel to learn more about the proposed MPA found in Sitio Bakod, express their views, raise concerns, and contribute their insights to the legislative process.
The activity was attended by the Vice Mayor, Hon. Arnel Ellema Calisay and members of the Sangguniang Bayan -- Hon. Tommy Elacion, Hon. Marciano B. Deladia, Jr., Hon. Orlando Tan, Hon. Jonathan Socorro Jr, Hon. Victorio Inciso Jr, Hon. Roque Zenas Canillas -- the Punong Barangay, Hon. Rommel Hilaria and Barangay Officials of San Miguel, residents and citizens of the barangay, as well as guests and visitors from RARE nd GDFI - Margarita dela Cruz and Sir Bau, and LGU Balangiga department heads, Engr. Ivan Rosaldo and Engr. Alberto Obias, MENRO and MPDC, respectively. Other attendees were from the Philippine Coast Guard, Bantay Dagat, and SMBAMPAA.
The Sangguniang Bayan extends its appreciation to everyone who participated in the consultation and shared their perspectives toward the protection and sustainable management of the municipality’s coastal and marine resources.
