Snapping a selfie is now all it takes for Filipinos to verify their identity and open a bank account, as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) inked the subscription contract for the adoption of the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) to eliminate paper barriers and usher in a faster, safer, and fully inclusive digital banking.

Under this partnership, eligible National ID holders can now seamlessly open a bank account through the BPI app using a live selfie matched directly against their record in the National ID registry. The real-time biometric verification eliminates the need for physical ID card uploads or additional secondary documentation, delivering a faster, simpler, and more secure onboarding experience.

As more institutions adopt NIDAS, the PSA continues to expand the ways Filipinos can use their National IDs in everyday transactions. 🪪📱

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in partnership with the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Business Insights Laboratory for Development (BUILD) and its Technical Resource Lab (TRL), successfully conducted the National ID Forum: Utilizing the National ID for Financial Services on 07 August 2026.

The day-long forum convened 45 representatives from banks and other financial institutions to streamline the adoption of the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) across the banking sector.

The PSA continues to work closely with various government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners to expand the use of the National ID.

Magdala ng PhilID o ePhilID ng magulang at birth certificate ng bata o anumang dokumento na may kumpletong pangalan ng bata at magulang, lugar ng kapanganakan, at kaarawan ng bata.
• Edad 5–17 taong gulang na walang valid ID:
Magdala ng ORIGINAL copy ng birth certificate (PSA/NSO/LCRO).

11 August 2026 – Dinalungan, Aurora. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Aurora participated in the Civil Registration Caravan organized by the Municipal Civil Registry Office of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dinalungan at the Covered Court, Poblacion Zone II, Dinalungan, Aurora.

During the activity, Registration Kit Operator (RKO) Rebecca P. Blanza provided information on the three (3) formats of the National ID—Physical National ID Card, National ID in Paper Form, and Digital National ID—and addressed concerns regarding the temporary suspension of the Physical National ID printing.

She also reminded registrants that all three (3) formats are legally recognized and must be accepted by public and private institutions.
RKO Blanza registered 11 clients, assisted 13 clients with demographic information updates, and issued 53 National IDs in Paper Form.

The activity highlights PSA Aurora’s continued efforts to bring accessible National ID services closer to communities and strengthen collaboration with local government partners.
