08/25/2026-- The MDRRMO Balo-i has successfully completed the recent Gawad Kalasag Desk Evaluation via online conducted by the Office of Civil Defense Region X (OCD R10). This evaluation highlights the MDDRMO Baloi continued commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and emergency response in the Municipality of Balo-i.

The Gawad Kalasag is the country’s premier recognition program for outstanding practices and achievements in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and humanitarian assistance. The MDRRMO Balo-i has been a consistent recipient of this recognition for many consecutive years, reflecting its sustained efforts toward building a safer and more resilient community.

The annual evaluation is important as it provides an opportunity to assess programs, systems, accomplishments, and preparedness, while also identifying areas for improvement. More than an award, Gawad Kalasag serves as a motivation for the MDRRMO Balo-i to continuously improve and uphold excellence in DRRM service.

In the early morning of August 25, 2026, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Balo-i, led by MDRRMO Head Officer Sir Qaharoddin L. Ali, participated in and provided augmentation support to the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Lanao del Norte during its Simultaneous Massive Coconut Tree Planting Activity held at Barangay Lumbac, Balo-i, Lanao del Norte.

During the Closing Program, Sir Qaharoddin L. Ali, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to PCA Lanao del Norte for inviting the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balo-i to take part in this meaningful activity. He also highlighted the significant benefits of the program to the local coconut farmers of Balo-i, particularly in supporting their livelihood and promoting sustainable coconut production.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides.

A Coordination Meeting was successfully conducted between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balo-i and representatives of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) to discuss the implementation of the PCA Health and Medical Program to the Local Coconut Farmers of Baloi.

During the meeting, PCA representatives presented the program details and discussed the necessary preparations, coordination, and support mechanisms to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Mobile Health Program.

This initiative highlights the continued efforts of the LGU of Balo-i to support and promote the welfare of its local coconut farmers.

Follow these reminders to stay cool and safe!

1. STAY HYDRATED 💧
Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty.

2. AVOID PEAK HEAT HOURS ⏰
Limit outdoor activities between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

3. WEAR LIGHT, BREATHABLE CLOTHES 👕 Choose loose, light-colored clothing.

4. STAY IN COOL PLACES 🏠
Stay indoors or in shaded areas as much as possible.

5. WATCH FOR WARNING SIGNS⚠️
Headache, dizziness, nausea, rapid pulse, or heavy sweating.
Act early!

🚨 SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE

1. High body temperature

08/06/2026--LGU Balo-i Benchmarks Development Initiatives in Zamboanga City

Officials of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balo-i visited the City Hall of Zamboanga City to conduct a benchmarking activity focused on the development and best practices of the Zamboanga City Tourism Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO).

During the visit, the LGU of Zamboanga City presented, through a visual presentation, its various accomplishments, programs, and future plans aimed at further enhancing its capabilities and improving the delivery of services to its constituents.

Following the presentation, the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO) graciously provided the Balo-i DRMMO delegation with an opportunity to visit its Command Center and observe its operational protocols and procedures. The delegation was also given the opportunity to visit the ongoing construction of what was presented as the biggest DRRMO Command Center in Southeast Asia.

The benchmarking activity provided the LGU Balo-i delegation with valuable insights and practical knowledge that may serve as a reference in strengthening local programs, improving disaster risk reduction and management capabilities, and enhancing public service delivery in the municipality.
