📢 LOOK: SUSTAINING UPCYCLING TRAINING FOR UTILITY BAGS ♻️👜
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) successfully conducted a two-day training program, Sustaining Upcycling: Product Innovation, Pricing and Costing, and Marketing Strategies for Utility Bags, on March 26-27, 2025. This initiative aimed to equip participants with essential skills in utility bag production, proper pricing and costing techniques, and effective marketing strategies.
On Day 1, participants engaged in hands-on training on utility bag processing led by Mr. Domingo S. Cruz Jr., Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist, and Ms. Elfie Tamayo, OTOP Technical Staff. The session focused on material selection, design improvements, and enhancing the durability of upcycled bags. This was followed by a practical workshop on Pricing and Costing, facilitated by Mr. Cruz, where participants learned to set fair and competitive prices while considering production costs and profit margins.
On Day 2, participants continued refining their utility bag designs and applied the insights gained from the first session. The training concluded with an engaging session on Marketing Strategies, conducted by Mr. Jan Rino M. Apares, Special Operations Officer I, where participants learned branding techniques, customer targeting, and effective promotional methods to market their products successfully.
Through this training, participants gained valuable knowledge to improve their upcycling businesses, ensuring sustainability and competitiveness in the market. DTI remains committed to supporting local entrepreneurs by providing training programs that foster innovation and business growth.
