𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄: 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎 𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐘𝐎 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊

BANAYOYO, ILOCOS SUR — In another meaningful step toward building greener and more sustainable communities, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Bitalag provided logs to the Municipality of Banayoyo for the development of the Tree Park of Barangay Bagbagotot.

The logs were provided through the assistance of 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐆𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐌𝐎 𝐈𝐕, CENRO Bitalag, upon the request of the Municipality of Banayoyo coursed through 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐆. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚, 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫.

The donated logs will be utilized for the establishment and improvement of the Barangay Bagbagotot Tree Park, which aims to provide a functional green space that promotes environmental awareness, community participation, and appreciation for nature.

𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐫. expressed his appreciation to CENRO Bitalag and the Municipality of Banayoyo for the support, emphasizing that the assistance will contribute significantly to the development of the Tree Park for the benefit of the Bagbagotot community.

The initiative highlights the importance of collaboration among government agencies and local communities in advancing environmental protection and sustainable development..

The Municipality of Banayoyo continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship through the establishment of Tree Parks in its barangays, complementing its broader efforts toward conservation, beautification, and sustainable community development.

After 14 Years, Banayoyo Unveils Its New Environment Code

After 14 years since the enactment of its previous Environment Code in 2012, the Municipality of Banayoyo has officially adopted the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗼. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲-𝟬𝟳, approved on April 8, 2026.

𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐆. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 said “This Environment Code is our commitment to protect our natural resources, strengthen climate resilience, and secure a greener future for every Banayoyoan.”

The 2026 Environment Code reinforces the municipality’s commitment to environmental protection, sustainable development, and community participation for present and future generations.

The ordinance was sponsored by 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗚. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮, Chairperson of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Environment. We also like to acknowledged our 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 Hon. 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮 in support to the approval of the ordinance.

Today, the LGU Banayoyo through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) joins the global observance of International Plastic Bag Free Day, a reminder that small actions can create lasting change.

Let us reduce our dependence on single-use plastics and choose sustainable alternatives. By bringing reusable bags and practicing responsible waste management, we protect our environment and preserve a cleaner, greener Banayoyo for future generations.

Ang bawat pagtanggi sa plastik ay hakbang tungo sa mas malinis at ligtas na kinabukasan.

In celebration of Arbor Day 2026, the Local Government Unit of Banayoyo, through the Office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), successfully conducted a Tree Planting Activity at Sitio Bay-asan, Barangay Naguimba, where 1,000 tree seedlings came from DENR CENRO BITALAG and NTA CABDON were planted in support of environmental conservation and sustainable development.

𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗚. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 emphasized the significance of the activity, stating, “Every tree planted today is a promise of a better tomorrow. The 1,000 seedlings we planted symbolize our commitment to environmental stewardship and our shared vision of building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Banayoyo for future generations.”

The activity was conducted in partnership with DENR-CENRO Tagudin, headed by Mr. Frank Danglose, with the presence of Mr. Joseph Gumangan, Chief of Forest Management.

The event was graced by Civil Service Commission (CSC) Ilocos Sur Provincial Director Marina N. Garcia and actively participated in by LGU officials and employees, Barangay Officials, the National To***co Administration (NTA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and other partner agencies and stakeholders.

The success of the activity was further strengthened by the collective efforts of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries of Sitio Bay-asan, together with the MENRO Banayoyo staff and CENRO Bitalag staff, who worked hand in hand in digging planting holes and preparing the site prior to the tree planting activity. Their dedication and teamwork exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and environmental stewardship.

The Arbor Day celebration showcased the power of unity and collaboration, reaffirming that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that every seedling planted today contributes to a resilient and sustainable future for the Municipality of Banayoyo.
