Earlier today, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Abra Field Office, in celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day with the theme โ€œKalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan,โ€ conducted a livelihood awarding ceremony benefiting various individual and group beneficiaries across the province.

Prior to the awarding ceremony, the beneficiaries and guests viewed the Independence Day message of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino. In his message, Secretary Tolentino emphasized that the freedom and independence Filipinos enjoy today were made possible through the courage, sacrifices, and heroism of the nation's forefathers. He encouraged everyone to honor their legacy by contributing to nation-building and working towards a better future for the next generation.

A total of eight (8) individual beneficiaries, who are parents of child laborers, received egg-laying livelihood project kits amounting to โ‚ฑ298,401.04. The assistance aims to provide sustainable income opportunities for families and contribute to the prevention of child labor by improving household economic conditions.

Meanwhile, three (3) workers' associations received livelihood assistance amounting to โ‚ฑ2,366,550.00 under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). The Sitio Calunay-Bitnong Gunglo Ti Mannalon Association (SINTAX) and the Gaddani Farmers Association were provided with farm mechanization projects to enhance agricultural productivity and efficiency. On the other hand, the Dulimaman Women's Organization received an egg-laying livelihood project to support income generation among its members.

The activity underscores DOLE's continuing commitment to empowering vulnerable workers, strengthening community-based enterprises, and promoting inclusive economic opportunities as part of the nation's celebration of freedom and progress.
