In alignment with the Department of Education's (DepEd) commitment to continuous professional development and research excellence, a specialized capacity building program focused on crafting basic and ethnographic research was successfully conducted at the EM Royalle Hotel and Beach Resort from May 26 to 29, 2026.
The event aimed to enhance the research skills and knowledge of school heads to enable them to effectively design, implement and utilize research to improve school performance and learner outcomes.

The training was attended by a total of 63 school heads demonstrating a strong commitment to enhance research competencies. The event was further enriched by the active participation of four esteemed resource persons, who are experts in research. Additionally, eight members of the Project Management Team (PMT) and Technical Working Group (TWG) provided invaluable support, ensuring the smooth facilitation of the program.

The activity was graced by the presence of SGOD Chief Ronald T. Marquez, PhD, whose participation was highly significant. His presence underscored the importance of the capacity building initiative and served as a source of inspiration for the participants. His engagement added value to the activity, emphasizing the departmentโ€™s strong support for research and leadership development.

Furthermore, SDS Amador D. Garcia, Sr., CESO V, conveyed a powerful message that emphasized the critical role of data in educational leadership, stating that, "Data is the foundation for wise decision-making and purposeful planning in research." This underscores the importance of equipping school leaders with robust research skills to harness data effectively for school improvement and policy development.

The three-day capacity building and workshop encompassed interactive lectures, worshops, and group exercises designed to deepen understanding of basic and ethnographic research. Participants engaged in developing their own research schema that would serve as their anchor in their research proposals, learning techniques for qualitative data collection such as observations, interviews, and field notes. The resource persons provided expert guidance, addressing challenges in research and emphasizing ethical considerations in the field including publication and attendance to international conferences.

The capacity building initiative successfully enhanced the research acumen of school heads, equipping them with practical tools to undertake research studies within their respective schools. Attendees expressed confidence in applying these methodologies to uncover rich, contextual insights that can inform targeted interventions and policy formulations committed to research-driven educational leadership ultimately contributing to the departmentโ€™s goal of elevating the quality of education.

16/05/2026

Dear NASH takers of SDO Abra,

Good Luck sa inyong lahat tomorrow๐ŸŒป

As tomorrow slowly approaches for the NASH Batch 2, hearts begin to carry a mixture of emotions: anticipation, hope, excitement, and quiet moments of uncertainty.

For some, sleep may come a little later tonight as thoughts continue to wander toward what tomorrow may bring.

But beyond the pressure and nervousness lies something far more meaningful: a dream taking its first step toward becoming reality.

Tomorrow is more than a date on the calendar.

It is a moment that marks the beginning of a leadership journey waiting to unfold and before that moment arrives, allow me to share to you the following thoughts:

Remember your purpose!
Before anything else, remind yourself why you started. NASH is more than an examination! It is a meaningful step toward your leadership journey and the impact you aspire to create.

Believe in the strength of your journey!
You did not arrive at this point by accident. Every experience, challenge, lesson, and sacrifice has prepared you for this opportunity. Trust the process that brought you here.

Prepare with confidence, not fear!
Trust the knowledge, experiences, and lessons you have gathered through the years. Preparation is not about perfection, it is about believing that your efforts have equipped you for this moment.

Turn nervousness into motivation!
Feeling anxious before an important examination is natural. Instead of allowing fear to control you, use it as fuel to prepare more, focus better, and remind yourself that this moment truly matters.

Do not compare your journey with others!
Everyone has different strengths and paths. Focus on your own preparation and growth. Your progress is uniquely yours.

Pray for clarity of mind and focus!
May you be blessed with a clear mind, a calm heart, and sharp focus so you can think wisely, remember what you have learned, and perform with confidence.

Rest is part of preparation!
A well-rested mind performs better than an exhausted one. Take care of yourself, get enough sleep, and allow your mind and body to recharge.

Do your best, then trust the process!
Give your full effort in preparation, but do not allow anxiety to overpower you. You have done your part; now trust the journey that brought you here.

Walk into the examination with faith and courage!
Believe in yourself and in your ability to overcome challenges. Walk into the examination with confidence and hope.

See this as the first step of your leadership story!
NASH is not merely an examination to pass; it is the beginning of a greater mission. Tomorrow opens the door to growth, service, and opportunities to become a leader who inspires and creates meaningful change.

As this day comes to a close and tomorrow draws near, remember that you carry with you more than knowledge and preparation.

You carry your dreams, your purpose, and every sacrifice that brought you to this moment. Whatever emotions you may be feeling tonight, hold on to faith and believe in the journey that led you here.

Tomorrow is not meant to define your worth; it is simply one step in a much greater story that is still being written.

Walk forward with courage, with hope, and with confidence in yourselves.

May your minds be filled with clarity, your hearts with peace, and your spirits with strength.

Good luck everyone, your SDO Abra Family is rooting for you all ๐Ÿ™

Your ASDS,
Jan Nowel E. Peรฑa
