Today, Alawa Elementary School successfully conducted a school-based deworming activity for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, led by Ma’am Fely Jane Manuben, Tineg District Nurse.

Before administering the deworming medicine, Ma’am Fely Jane gave the pupils a clear and child-friendly orientation about the importance of deworming, proper hygiene, and caring for their health. Her guidance helped our learners understand the activity and feel safe and prepared.

We sincerely thank Ma’am Fely Jane Manuben for her time, dedication, and continued support in protecting the health and well-being of our pupils. Together, we nurture healthy learners who are ready to learn, grow, and succeed!

Before classes began this morning, personnel from MPS Tineg visited Alawa Elementary School to share an important lesson with our learners about bullying—how to recognize it, prevent it, and speak up against it. This timely discussion reminded everyone to treat others with kindness, respect, and compassion, especially amid the increasing number of bullying incidents being reported in other schools.

They also posted emergency hotline numbers around the school so that learners, teachers, and community members will know whom to contact whenever assistance is needed.

Alawa Elementary School sincerely thanks MPS Tineg for helping us promote a safe, caring, and bully-free environment for every child. Together, let us stand against bullying and make our school and community safer for everyone.

LOOK | SELG Bag Inspection Activity

LOOK | Student-Led School Watching and Hazard Mapping

In compliance with Division Memorandum No. 247, s. 2026, the SELG, BKD, and YES-O Officers of Alawa Elementary School conducted the Student-Led School Watching and Hazard Mapping early today.

The activity aimed to engage learners in identifying possible hazards, unsafe conditions, and vulnerable areas within the school premises. Through this initiative, learner-leaders actively participated in promoting school safety, disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation.

This activity also strengthens the culture of preparedness among learners and supports the school’s commitment to a safer and more disaster-resilient learning environment.
Together, we build a safer Alawa ES!

Alawa Elementary School Conducts 2nd Quarter NSED 2026

Today, Alawa Elementary School successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) with the active participation of all learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and some parents.

The activity started with a short program led by the School DRRM Coordinator, Mr. Arnold C. Biglay, who warmly welcomed all participants and gave an informative lecture on the purpose and importance of conducting earthquake drills. He emphasized that preparedness, awareness, and proper response during emergencies are essential in ensuring everyone’s safety, especially inside the school.

Ma’am Lo**ta V. Valencia also shared an important discussion on why schools must regularly conduct earthquake drills. She highlighted that these drills help learners, teachers, and parents become more familiar with safety procedures and evacuation protocols, allowing them to respond calmly and properly during an actual earthquake.

Meanwhile, Ma’am Ligaya A. Mariano discussed and demonstrated the proper way to perform “Duck, Cover, and Hold.” Through her demonstration, learners were guided on what to do when an earthquake occurs: ducking down to the ground, taking cover under a sturdy table or desk, and holding on until the shaking stops.

After the orientation and demonstration, the actual earthquake drill was conducted. At the sound of the alarm, learners and school personnel properly performed the Duck, Cover, and Hold procedure, followed by an orderly evacuation to the designated safe area. Teachers carefully guided their learners, ensuring that everyone followed the safety protocols correctly.

This activity served as a meaningful reminder that disaster preparedness begins with awareness, discipline, and constant practice. Alawa Elementary School remains committed to strengthening its disaster risk reduction and management practices to ensure a safer and more prepared school community.

Congratulations to all learners, teachers, parents, and school personnel for their cooperation and active participation in the 2nd Quarter NSED!

Alawa Elementary School teachers and pupils joined the community in honoring and learning from a meaningful cultural tradition. As part of the community’s customs, the teachers and learners witnessed and participated in the performance of an ethnic dance connected to their burial tradition for a departed loved one.

This experience allowed the pupils to understand that culture is not only learned inside the classroom, but also through real-life participation, observation, and respect for the practices of the community. Through the dance, the community expressed unity, remembrance, respect, and deep love for the person who passed away.

Alawa ES recognizes the importance of preserving and respecting indigenous traditions, values, and cultural identity. Moments like this help our learners appreciate the richness of their heritage and develop respect for the beliefs and practices of others.

Together, the school and the community continue to strengthen cultural awareness, respect, and unity among our learners.

Alawa Elementary School joyfully opened the first day of classes with an Opening Block Program and orientation for parents and learners, marking another meaningful beginning of learning, growth, and partnership.

On June 8, parents were oriented on important school matters including the Three-Term Calendar, school rules and regulations, grading system, class schedule, and other essential reminders. The orientation was led by the dedicated teachers of Alawa ES together with our supportive School Head, Sir Lelis B. Ferras Jr.

Learners were also guided on their responsibilities as pupils, as well as important reminders on DRRM preparedness, safety, discipline, and anti-bullying, strengthening the school’s commitment to a safe, inclusive, child-friendly, and learner-centered environment.

As we begin this new school year, Alawa Elementary School remains one with the Department of Education in nurturing learners who are responsible, respectful, resilient, and ready to learn.
