LAGAYAN ADVANCES DIGITAL FINANCIAL INCLUSION THROUGH PALENG-QR PH PLUS AND BSP PISO CARAVAN

The Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program and BSP Piso Caravan were successfully launched in Lagayan, Abra, marking another milestone in promoting digital payments and financial inclusion in the municipality.

The activity was led by the Local Government Unit of Lagayan under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Edmarc Crisologo, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), partner financial institutions, and other stakeholders.

Participants, including TODA operators, jeepney drivers, market vendors, retailers, service providers, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), were introduced to the benefits of digital payment solutions through the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program. The activity encouraged the adoption of cashless transactions to make business operations more efficient, secure, and convenient for both entrepreneurs and consumers.

The BSP Piso Caravan complemented the program by providing information on the proper handling of Philippine currency, identifying genuine banknotes and coins, and promoting the circulation of clean and fit currency.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of government agencies and the LGU of Lagayan to accelerate digital transformation, strengthen financial inclusion, and create a more resilient and competitive local economy.

Manabo, Abra – On June 16, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Abra, in partnership with local government units, BSP North Luzon Regional Office, DILG, and DICT, successfully rolled out additional PalengQR PH Plus and Piso Caravan in the Municipality of Manabo, Abra.

This initiative marks a significant step toward digital innovation, financial inclusion, and grassroots empowerment, ensuring that communities are equipped with modern tools for everyday transactions.

Local leaders joined hands with DTI, BSP, DICT, and DILG to champion cashless payments and financial literacy. Municipal Administrator of Manabo, Ms. Joana Ruth Domasing, led the community in embracing QR-based transactions. The activities gathered transport operators, market vendors, MSMEs, and residents, all eager to adopt digital platforms that make payments faster, safer, and more convenient.

The Piso Caravan complemented the launch by providing practical lessons on financial management, savings, and responsible use of digital tools. These sessions empowered participants to not only transact digitally but also to build stronger financial habits. DTI ABRA PARTICIPATES IN THE 2ND QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL 2026

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra actively participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting a culture of preparedness, safety, and resilience in the workplace.

The activity provided employees with the opportunity to practice the proper “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, familiarize themselves with evacuation protocols, and strengthen their readiness to respond effectively during earthquake emergencies.

| Strengthening Agrarian Enterprise Development through VLFED Project in San Juan

San Juan, Abra – On June 15, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Abra Provincial Office, led by Acting Provincial Director Marvin T. Arcangel, joined the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony for the Village Level Farm-focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) Project in San Juan, Abra. The project was launched for the Ba-ug Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), marking another milestone in advancing agrarian reform beneficiaries toward sustainable enterprise development.

The VLFED Project is a key initiative under the DTI-DAR-DOST Synchronization Plan, which promotes integrated rural industrialization through inter-agency collaboration. DAR provides infrastructure and organizational support for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs), while DTI and DOST contribute business development, product standardization, and technology assistance to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

During the ceremony, Mr. Arcangel emphasized the importance of equipping the Ba-ug Farmers MPC with entrepreneurial skills and market linkages to transform agricultural yield into high-value commercial products. The partnership aims to strengthen farmers’ capacity to manage enterprises effectively and expand their access to broader markets.

Through this collaboration, government agencies reaffirm their shared commitment to empowering local farmers, promoting innovation, and building resilient rural communities. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra, led by Acting Provincial Director Marvin T. Arcangel, actively participated in the official launch of the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program and BSP Piso Caravan on June 16, 2026, at the Manabo Municipal Gymnasium, marking a significant step toward promoting digital payments and financial inclusion in the municipality.
