PWDs Take the Spotlight in “Himig ng Pag-asa” Singing Competition
In line with the 47th National Disability Rights Week, the Abra Provincial Government proudly showcased the talents of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through the vibrant “Himig ng Pag-asa” Singing Competition held at the Capitol Atrium on September 11, 2025.
Guided by the theme “Innovation for Inclusion,” the event gathered 19 remarkable PWDs from different towns of the province. With every performance, they proved that disabilities do not limit passion, talent, or dreams. This meaningful celebration was made possible through the steadfast support of Governor Takit Bersamin and Vice Governor Anne Bersamin, who continue to champion inclusivity and empowerment for all Abreños.
The program, spearheaded by OIC Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Icee B. Molina, highlighted the Provincial Government’s commitment to promote equal rights and opportunities for PWDs. Contestants from Tayum, Pidigan, and Licuan-Baay won the top three awards, while all participants received food packs and cash prizes in recognition of their courage and artistry.
In his inspirational message, Board Member Rudolfo A. Bernardez III (Bucay–District 1) praised the contestants, saying their heartfelt songs reflected strength, hope, and the spirit of unity. He reminded everyone that true inclusion means building bridges that honor abilities and dreams—ensuring that no one is left behind in a genuinely inclusive community.
The “Himig ng Pag-asa” was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of talent, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of Abreño PWDs.
