"𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦"

The 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗠𝗣𝗗𝗢)successfully conducted a 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 on July 30, 2026, under the Bansud Volunteerism Project.

Following the successful launch of 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙙 𝙇𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖 2025, the proceeds and generous contributions from our sponsors made it possible to bring hope and compassion to 326 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙮 (𝙋𝘿𝙇𝙨) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bansud, Oriental Mindoro. Each beneficiary was served a warm meal and received a simple gift as a symbol of care, dignity, and community solidarity.

This meaningful activity reflects the true spirit of volunteerism—that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to make a lasting difference in the lives of others. We extend a heartfelt gratitude to all our generous sponsors from LGU Bansud, private individuals, and Civil Society Organizations whose unwavering support made this initiative possible. Your compassion and generosity continue to inspire hope and strengthen our commitment to building a more caring and inclusive community.

The Municipal Volunteerism Coordinating Council is so proud of you Sir Roderick Labaguis Labay ❤️❤️❤️

𝗡𝗢 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗙𝗔𝗥📚

Reaching his pupils was never a simple journey for teacher Roderick Labay.

To get to Dyangdang Primary School in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, he had to cross 14 rivers and follow kilometres of mountain trails that became muddy and dangerous during the rainy season.

On one occasion, he walked for six hours while carrying a basket filled with canned sardines for his Mangyan learners.

The school served children from the Tadyawan Mangyan community. Its only makeshift classroom was overcrowded, learning materials were limited, and some pupils missed classes because of hunger or the need to help their families earn a living.

Labay took time to understand the community’s language, traditions, and daily struggles. During his first year, he worked with parents and residents to build another makeshift classroom for 74 learners.

His service later reached Sitio Labo, where he taught Buhid parents who could not read or write. His efforts helped pave the way for the establishment of Labo Primary School and the construction of a classroom for 45 children.

At Apnagan Elementary School, he continued finding practical ways to support learners affected by poverty. Income from the school’s banana plantation was used to provide hygiene kits, while feeding and gardening projects helped improve the nutrition of severely underweight pupils.

He also sought help from donors who provided slippers, raincoats, uniforms, books, vitamins, school supplies, and other necessities.

In 2018, the Civil Service Commission recognised Labay as a Dangal ng Bayan awardee for his extraordinary public service and exemplary conduct.

For him, teaching was never confined to the classroom. It meant crossing rivers, carrying food through the mountains, building spaces for learning, and doing everything he could to keep children in school.

No one has ever become poor in giving...

YOUNG GIVER 🌱

“As long as it can help other students, any school here in Caloocan is worth reaching out to,” Asher Aaron Prillo said.

A student from Caloocan City Science High School turned his personal savings into meals for fellow learners after thinking about children who may arrive at school without eating breakfast.

Asher donated more than ₱2,300 from his piggy bank to support and help expand feeding programs in Caloocan City.

The money was originally meant for a celebration with his classmates. Instead, he chose to give it away so it could help children who needed food more.

His grandfather shared that Asher was moved by the possibility that some students in the city attend classes on an empty stomach.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan assured him that the donation would be allocated to feeding initiatives for children in need. The city also gave Asher a gift so he could still celebrate with his classmates as originally planned.

His act drew praise from classmates and community members, with one supporter writing, “Age is never a barrier to helping others—Asher, you’re living proof of that.”

Asher’s gesture shows that generosity is not measured by age or by the size of a donation. Sometimes, meaningful change begins with a young learner choosing to share what he has.
