PNP NABS FOUR IN ₱102.5-M COUNTERFEIT MEDICINE BUST IN MAKATI

Four individuals were arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police in an entrapment operation targeting the sale of counterfeit medicines inside a hotel in Makati City on April 10, 2026.

The operation, conducted by the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit (AFCCU) in coordination with the Southern Police District, resulted in the arrest of four adult suspects who are now under police custody.

Seized from the suspects were 400 pieces of counterfeit cancer medication labeled as Keytruda 100mg/4ml, with an estimated market value of ₱102,577,500.00. Authorities said the items violate Republic Act No. 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief Philippine National Police, commended the operating units for the successful operation and stressed the gravity of the offense.

“Hindi biro ang ganitong krimen. Ang pagbebenta ng pekeng gamot ay direktang naglalagay sa panganib ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan. We will not allow these illegal activities to thrive,” he said.

He also issued a reminder to the public and a stern warning to those engaged in similar illegal activities. “Sa ating mga kababayan, be cautious and discerning when buying products, lalo na kung may kinalaman sa kalusugan. Huwag basta magtitiwala sa mga kahina-hinalang transaksyon. At sa mga gumagawa nito, this is our warning—hindi kayo makakalusot. Mananagot kayo sa batas.

The operation is part of the PNP’s intensified efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, to curb illegal trade and protect public health and safety, in support of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in ensuring consumer protection and public welfare.

The PNP assures the public of its continued commitment to decisive and responsive policing, in line with Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

OVER 53K VIOLATORS RECORDED IN LATEST SAFER CITIES OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported continued implementation gains under the Safer Cities Initiative, following sustained operations across the National Capital Region on April 10, 2026.

A total of 9,810 individuals were recorded for violations of local ordinances for the latest monitoring period, bringing the cumulative total to 53,293 apprehensions since the start of implementation on April 6, 2026.

Breakdown shows drinking and smoking in public places at 2,857, followed by roaming without shirts at 886, curfew violations among minors at 802, and karaoke beyond allowed time at 220, while 5,045 were recorded under other ordinance violations.

Across police districts for the latest period, the Southern Police District recorded 3,229 violators, North Police District with 1,830, Quezon City Police District with 1,695, Eastern Police District with 1,557, and Manila Police District with 1,499.

For case disposition on April 10, a total of 4,011 were fined, 91 were charged, while 5,708 were warned and released, depending on applicable local ordinances.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the figures reflect the continuing impact of visible and consistent enforcement on public behavior. “Makikita po natin na habang tuloy-tuloy ang presensya ng pulisya sa komunidad, unti-unti ring tumataas ang pagsunod sa mga ordinansa,” he said.

He added that the initiative supports the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations and is aligned with the peace and order direction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The PNP also acknowledged the support of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in strengthening coordination with Local Government Units and barangays.

The Safer Cities Initiative continues to focus on addressing common ordinance violations through coordinated enforcement with LGUs and barangays, reinforcing discipline and community order.

Authorities reminded the public to strictly observe local ordinances to avoid penalties and inconvenience as enforcement operations remain sustained nationwide.

The PNP said the initiative will be expanded nationwide as part of its continuing commitment under “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”

₱1.1-B FAKE CIGARETTE BUST IN CEBU; FOREIGN NATIONALS NABBED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has dismantled a large-scale illegal cigarette operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, leading to the arrest of several suspects, including foreign nationals, and the seizure of over ₱1.1 billion worth of counterfeit to***co products and manufacturing equipment.

Operatives served a search warrant on a warehouse facility in an industrial park in Barangay Basak on April 10. Inside, authorities discovered thousands of boxes of ci******es bearing suspected falsified tax stamps, along with machines and raw materials used in production.

The suspects, include four Chinese nationals and one Filipino. They are now under police custody and are facing charges for falsification and use of falsified documents under Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the operation reflects the intensified efforts of the police to shut down illegal manufacturing activities that undermine government revenue and public trust.

“Hindi natin palalagpasin ang ganitong kalaking operasyon. Malinaw na panlilinlang ito hindi lang sa gobyerno kundi sa mamamayan. We will go after those who think they can hide behind warehouses and illegal schemes,” PGEN Nartatez said.

He also warned the public and businesses against engaging in or supporting illicit trade.

“Sa mga negosyante at mamimili, maging mapanuri tayo. Kapag masyadong mura o kahina-hinala ang produkto, malamang ilegal ito. Huwag nating tangkilikin ang ganitong gawain dahil lahat tayo ang naaapektuhan,” he added.

The PNP assured that operations against counterfeit and illegal goods will continue as part of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, in support of the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to strengthen law enforcement and protect legitimate industries.

1,374 ORDINANCE VIOLATORS APPREHENDED IN CEBU-WIDE ENFORCEMENT DRIVE; ₱264K FINES COLLECTED

The Cebu Police Provincial Office has intensified its campaign on public discipline and safety, resulting in the apprehension of 1,374 ordinance violators in a sweeping, province-wide enforcement operation.

The latest consolidated report highlights the firm and sustained implementation of local ordinances by police units across component cities and municipalities. Violations recorded include drinking and smoking in public places (443), minors violating curfew (363), and city ordinance and traffic code violations (472). Other offenses included roaming shirtless, public urination, illegal dumping, and videoke use beyond permitted hours.

Of the total violators, 494 individuals were fined, while 782 were warned and released, generating a total of ₱264,152.00 in fines, reinforcing both accountability and corrective enforcement measures.

Among the top-performing stations in ordinance enforcement were Talisay City Police Station (204 violators), Consolacion Municipal Police Station (72), and Toledo City Police Station (69) a testament to the heightened police visibility and proactive operations on the ground.

This intensified campaign is in consonance with the mandate of the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government, Juanito Victor "Jonvic" C. Remulla Jr., emphasizing stricter enforcement of local ordinances to promote discipline, public order, and community safety nationwide.

Provincial Director PCOL ABUBAKAR UDANG MANGELEN JR. underscored that the campaign is anchored on discipline, prevention, and community cooperation. “This intensified drive is not solely about enforcement it is about cultivating a culture of discipline and shared responsibility. When ordinances are followed, crimes are prevented. We call on every Cebuano to take part in maintaining peace and order in our communities,” PCOL Mangelen emphasized.

Regional Director PBGEN REDRICO A MARANAN lauded the CPPO for its strong and consistent operational performance. “The Cebu PPO continues to demonstrate operational excellence through its aggressive and sustained enforcement of local laws. These efforts significantly deter criminality and strengthen public confidence in the police force. This is a model of proactive policing that must be sustained,” PBGEN Maranan stated.

Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro likewise expressed full support for the initiative, emphasizing the vital role of law enforcement in governance. “We commend the Philippine National Police for their unwavering commitment to uphold the rule of law. The strict enforcement of ordinances plays a crucial role in promoting order, discipline, and safety in our province. The Provincial Government stands in full support of these efforts,” Governor Baricuatro said.

The CPPO assures the public that intensified operations under OPLAN Bakal, Sita, Bulabog, and Night Watch will continue across Cebu, in close coordination with local government units and community stakeholders.
