The LTO Barotac Viejo District Office continues its intensified campaign against reckless driving, particularly involving tricycles carrying passengers beyond their authorized seating capacity.

This enforcement initiative is being carried out to protect the safety of the riding public, especially our students who travel to and from school every day.

As shown in the photos, many students are forced to occupy the most dangerous positions on overloaded tricycles, exposing them to unnecessary risks in the event of sudden stops, collisions, or road accidents.

The LTO reminds all tricycle drivers and operators to strictly observe the prescribed passenger capacity of their vehicles. Compliance with traffic laws is not only a legal obligation—it is a shared responsibility to ensure the safety of every passenger.

This enforcement activity is in line with the directive of LTO Region 6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, who continues to strengthen road safety initiatives and uphold the protection of the riding public throughout Western Visayas.

𝗟𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗔𝗖 𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗝𝗢 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗧 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘 conducted an orientation for the Enforcement Personnel of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Banate, Iloilo on the proper conduct of checkpoint operations.

The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and capability of the enforcement personnel in implementing lawful, orderly, and effective checkpoint procedures in accordance with existing laws, rules, and regulations. Through this orientation, the participants were equipped with the appropriate protocols and best practices to ensure public safety while upholding the rights of motorists and road users.

This initiative reflects the commitment and guidance of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II in strengthening partnerships with local government units and ensuring the consistent implementation of traffic laws and road safety programs across Western Visayas. 𝘽𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘽𝘼𝙍𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙍𝙎: 𝘽𝙐𝙄𝙇𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙋𝙊𝙉𝙎𝙄𝘽𝙇𝙀 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿 𝙐𝙎𝙀𝙍𝙎!

In line with the continuing directive of LTO Region 6 Regional Director, Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, to strengthen road safety education through community partnership and grassroots engagement, the LTO Barotac Viejo District Office served as the resource speaker during the Orientation-Training on Republic Act No. 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code) and Road Safety Measures, held on July 28, 2026, at the Dr. Narciso Monfort Sports and Cultural Center (Municipal Gymnasium), Banate, Iloilo.

The activity was successfully facilitated by the Local Government Unit of Banate, under the leadership of Mayor Junjun Gonzales, and gathered a diverse group of stakeholders committed to promoting safer roads. Participants included Barangay Captains and Barangay Officials, Barangay Tanods, Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel, Municipal Traffic Enforcers, and representatives from the different Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs).

During the training, the LTO Barotac Viejo District Office discussed the salient provisions of R.A. 4136, road safety principles, traffic law enforcement, and the shared responsibility of every road user in preventing road crashes and fostering a culture of discipline on the roads.

This undertaking also forms part of the LTO Barotac Viejo District Office’s flagship road safety campaign, “BREAKING THE BARRIERS: BUILDING RESPONSIBLE ROAD USERS,” an initiative designed to bring the agency closer to the community by empowering local leaders, law enforcement agencies, transport stakeholders, and the public with the knowledge needed to become advocates of road safety.

Through strong collaboration between the LGU, partner agencies, and community stakeholders, the LTO continues to reinforce its commitment to creating safer, more responsible, and law-abiding road users—because road safety is a shared responsibility.

The LTO Barotac Viejo District Office continued its intensified Law Enforcement Operations today as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring road safety and promoting compliance with transportation laws.

LTO enforcers were strategically deployed to monitor motorists and conduct inspections of driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, and other required documents. Violations observed during the operation were addressed in accordance with existing laws and regulations, while motorists were reminded of their responsibilities as road users.

Muling ipinababatid ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa publiko na pansamantalang hindi magagamit ang Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) dahil sa isang technical issue na katulad ng naranasang aberya noong nakaraang linggo.

Kasalukuyang ginagawa ng LTO ang mga kinakailangang hakbang upang maibalik sa normal ang operasyon ng sistema sa lalong madaling panahon. Kasabay nito, pinag-aaralan din ang mga posibleng solusyon at isinasagawa ang mga pagpapahusay sa sistema upang mabawasan ang pagkaantala ng serbisyo at maiwasan ang mga katulad na aberya sa hinaharap.

Habang isinasagawa ang mga hakbang na ito, maaaring hindi magamit pansamantala ang mga transaksyong may kaugnayan sa LTMS. Dahil dito, pinapayuhan ang lahat ng tanggapan at mga kinauukulan na ipagpaliban muna ang mga transaksyon sa LTMS hanggang sa maglabas ng panibagong abiso.

Tinitiyak ng ahensya na prayoridad ang agarang maibalik sa normal ang operasyon ng sistema. Magbibigay ang LTO ng karagdagang abiso sa sandaling ganap nang maibalik ang serbisyo.

Nais ipabatid ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na nagpapatuloy pa rin ang maintenance activity ng online system ng ahensya at nangangailangan pa ng karagdagang troubleshooting upang matiyak ang ganap nitong kaayusan.

Dahil dito, pansamantalang hindi magagamit ang online services ng LTO sa lahat ng tanggapan sa buong bansa.

Pinapayuhan ang lahat ng kliyente na huwag munang magsagawa ng anumang online transaction upang maiwasan ang mga posibleng aberya, kabilang ang hindi kumpletong pagproseso ng transaksyon at ang hindi pagkakatugma sa mga rekord gaya ng Official Receipt at iba pang kaugnay na dokumento.

Maglalabas ang LTO ng panibagong abiso sa oras na maibalik ang normal na operasyon ng sistema.

Meet Neco, Edward, and Enil, young members of the indigenous community in Sitio Nagpana, Brgy. Lipata, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, whose determination to pursue a better future inspired the LTO Barotac Viejo District Office.

* Neco is an Automotive Technology student who dreams of building a career in the automotive industry.
* Edward is an Education student aspiring to become a teacher and serve his community.
* Enil helps his father transport agricultural products from their remote sitio to the town proper, where reliable public transportation is scarce or unavailable.

Despite their aspirations, the cost of securing a Student Permit became a significant obstacle.

During the LTO Barotac Viejo District Office’s recent Road Safety Campaign in Sitio Nagpana, the team listened to their stories and recognized their determination. Moved by their circumstances, the office decided to sponsor the processing of their Student Permit applications, helping remove one of the barriers to achieving their goals.

This initiative reflects the commitment of LTO Region 6, under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, to bring government services closer to every Filipino—especially those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

At the LTO, we believe that road safety education and access to government services should never be limited by distance or financial hardship. Through programs like this, we continue to build safer roads while creating opportunities that empower communities.
