July 31, 2026 - The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Baroy, Lanao del Norte, under the leadership of MDRRMC Chairperson Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson, was recognized during the Regional Culmination of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026 in acknowledgment of its commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience in the community.

Representing the Municipality of Baroy, Ms. Joyce C. Dela Peña received the Plaque of Recognition on behalf of the MDRRMO, symbolizing the collective dedication and hard work of the office in promoting effective disaster risk reduction and management initiatives.

The Municipality also extends its sincere appreciation to the Office of Civil Defense Region X, headed by Regional Director Antonio B. Sugarol, for its continued guidance, partnership, and unwavering support to the local government units across Northern Mindanao in building safer and more disaster-resilient communities.

This recognition serves as an inspiration for the Local Government Unit of Baroy and its MDRRMO to further strengthen disaster preparedness, enhance emergency response capabilities, and promote a culture of resilience through continuous collaboration, capacity-building, and community-based disaster risk reduction programs.

July 29, 2026 - The Local Government Unit of Baroy, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), proudly emerged as the Overall 1st Runner-Up during the Provincial Culmination Program of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026, hosted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office under the leadership of PDRRM Officer Abeliza Manzano.

Adding to the municipality's remarkable achievement, Team Baroy was also hailed as 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 in the Emergency Rescue Relay, showcasing exceptional teamwork, preparedness, and the dedication of its emergency responders.

These achievements reflect the unwavering commitment of LGU Baroy to strengthening disaster preparedness and building a community that is ready to respond, recover, and rise stronger in the face of any challenge.

The LGU extends its heartfelt gratitude to MDRRMC Chairperson Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson for her steadfast support and commitment to empowering the municipality's disaster response initiatives. July 21, 2026 - The Local Government Unit of Baroy, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), successfully concluded the Baroy Rescue Challenge 2026: 1st Inter-Barangay Rescuelympics, one of the major highlights and the culminating activity of the Municipality's observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026.

For the first time in the municipality's history, Baroy gathered its barangays in a friendly yet highly competitive rescue challenge that showcased teamwork, preparedness, discipline, and lifesaving skills. More than a competition, the Rescuelympics served as a platform to strengthen the disaster response capabilities of barangay responders while promoting a culture of readiness and resilience within the community.

The competition was further strengthened by the presence of six distinguished evaluators whose expertise and experience ensured a fair, credible, and meaningful assessment of each participating team. Serving as evaluators were Baroy Municipal Fire Station OIC SFO3 Ramil J. Nagal, PCG Baroy Substation Commander PO1 Rolly Frando E. Quizano, PDRRM Staff and former Disaster Coordinator of Baroy Mr. Arwin D. Miquiabas, former Baroy LDRRM Officer Mr. Pedro J. Pacana, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Ms. Sherzade F. Gregorio, and PDRRM Officer Ms. Abeliza C. Manzano. Their invaluable insights and objective evaluation contributed greatly to the success and integrity of the inaugural Baroy Rescue Challenge.

Competing in the inaugural Rescuelympics were the following participating barangays, headed by their respective Punong Barangays:
• Princesa – headed by Hon. Ronald B. Tabar
• Lower Sagadan – headed by Hon. Eugene A. Monsanto
• Poblacion – headed by Hon. Karlo Rean S. Basalo
• Village – headed by Hon. Teresita V. Olmedo
• Manan-ao – headed by Hon. Josephine C. Ditan
• Bag-ong Dawis – headed by Hon. Myra P. Gadiane
• Raw-an – headed by Hon. Estrellito R. Elmedulan
• San Juan – headed by Hon. Felisa H. Depaloma

After a series of challenging rescue scenarios and emergency response simulations, the following barangays emerged victorious:

July 16, 2026 - In line with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, the Local Government Unit of Baroy, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), conducted an Orientation and Technical Briefing for the official participants of the Baroy Rescue Challenge 2026: 1st Inter-Barangay Rescuelympics.

The activity provided participating teams with the competition guidelines, mechanics, safety protocols, and event expectations to ensure fairness, preparedness, and a smooth conduct of the challenge. It also served as an opportunity for participants to gain a better understanding of the rescue scenarios and standards that will be used during the competition.

On July 21, 2026, participating barangays will put their knowledge, teamwork, and emergency response skills to the test before a panel of distinguished evaluators who will assess their competence, efficiency, and adherence to rescue protocols.

More than a competition, the Baroy Rescue Challenge highlights the Municipality's commitment to strengthening community preparedness, enhancing the capabilities of barangay responders, and fostering a culture of resilience in the face of disasters.

July 16, 2026 — The Local Government Unit of Baroy, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson, joined local leaders and representatives from local government units across Region X during the Region X Disaster Preparedness Forum: "Harmonizing LGU Preparedness Actions for a Resilient Northern Mindanao," facilitated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Joining the Mayor were MLGOO Sherzade F. Gregorio and EA Joyce C. Dela Peña, reaffirming the municipality's commitment to strengthening disaster risk reduction and management through collaboration, innovation, and shared best practices.

The forum served as a valuable platform for aligning preparedness strategies, enhancing coordination among local governments, and reinforcing proactive measures that will help build safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready communities.

July 14, 2026 - In celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026, the Local Government Unit of Baroy, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), successfully conducted the Lifesavers 101: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) Orientation for LGU employees at the Baroy Main Evacuation Center.

Hon. Mayor Rosa Dahab-Olafsson personally graced the activity, reaffirming her administration's commitment to cultivating a culture of preparedness and empowering public servants with essential lifesaving knowledge. She emphasized that disaster resilience begins with people who are equipped, compassionate, and ready to respond whenever emergencies arise.

In her message, the Mayor reminded everyone of the true essence of public service:
