Under the guidance of FCSUPT ALDWIN M SALAZAR, DSC, Regional Director of BFP Region 8, represented by FCINSP VIC LEONEL L MACASIL, Acting Chief of the Regional Operations Division, attended a coordination meeting regarding the upcoming Bayani Challenge activities spearheaded by Gawad Kalinga, held at the Office of the Local Chief Executive in the Municipality of Basey.

Present during the meeting were FSINSP WENCESLAO P AVORQUE JR, Municipal Fire Marshal of Basey, together with FO2 Francisco E Pedrosa Jr, who actively participated in the discussions and planning of activities aimed at promoting volunteerism, community development, disaster preparedness, and strengthened public service within the municipality.

The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies, partner organizations, and the community in ensuring the successful implementation of the Bayani Challenge program. Basey Fire Station, under the leadership of 𝘍𝘚𝘐𝘕𝘚𝘗 𝘞𝘌𝘕𝘊𝘌𝘚𝘓𝘈𝘖 𝘗 𝘈𝘝𝘖𝘙𝘘𝘜𝘌 𝘑𝘙., Municipal Fire Marshal, reminds the general public to refrain from burning grass, bushes, and other vegetation within their respective areas of responsibility.

This advisory is issued to promote public safety and prevent the occurrence of fire incidents. Burning of grass and bushes poses significant risks, especially during dry and windy conditions, as it may easily lead to uncontrolled grass fires that can rapidly spread to nearby residential areas and properties.

Moreover, such practices may endanger lives, damage the environment, and contribute to air pollution that can adversely affect the health of the community, particularly vulnerable individuals such as children and the elderly. It may also result in violations of existing laws, including Republic Act No. 8749 and Republic Act No. 9003, as well as applicable local ordinances and fire safety regulations.

In line with this, Basey Fire Station strongly encourages the public to adopt safer and environmentally friendly alternatives in managing waste and vegetation, such as composting and proper waste disposal.

The cooperation of everyone is highly essential in ensuring the safety and protection of lives, property, and the environment.

FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION AND FIRE DRILL

Personnel of Basey Fire Station, headed by FSINSP WENCESLAO P AVORQUE JR, Municipal Fire Marshal, successfully conducted a Fire Safety Education and Fire Drill at BDO Basey Branch.

The activity aimed to enhance the awareness and preparedness of bank employees in responding to fire emergencies. During the session, personnel discussed basic fire safety tips, proper use of fire extinguishers, and the importance of early reporting of fire incidents. The participants were also oriented on evacuation procedures to ensure orderly and safe exit during emergencies.

A fire drill simulation was conducted to demonstrate the appropriate response in case of fire, allowing employees to apply the knowledge they gained. The activity emphasized the significance of coordination, presence of mind, and adherence to safety protocols.

The Basey Fire Station , headed by FSINSP WENCESLAO P AVORQUE JR, Municipal Fire Marshal, would like to remind the public about the dangers of burning dry leaves within residential areas. While it may appear to be a simple and common practice, burning piles of dry leaves can easily lead to uncontrolled fires, especially during hot and windy weather conditions.

Fire can spread rapidly from a small pile of burning leaves to nearby structures, particularly houses made of light materials. Strong winds may carry burning embers to rooftops, yards, or other flammable objects, increasing the risk of a residential fire incident that may result in damage to properties and possible loss of lives.

In line with fire prevention and safety, the Basey Fire Station strongly discourages the burning of dry leaves and other combustible materials near homes and communities. Instead, residents are encouraged to practice proper waste disposal, such as composting or coordinating with local waste collection services.

SCAM ALERT

The Basey Fire Station would like to inform the public of the increasing reports of fraudulent activities involving individuals falsely representing themselves as personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

It has come to our attention that certain individuals are engaging in scams such as placing bulk orders of goods under the name of the local fire station, making it appear as if the transactions are official. In some cases, victims are instructed to deliver items or shoulder initial costs with the promise of reimbursement, only to later discover that the transactions are unauthorized.

Additionally, there are reports of unauthorized solicitations and individuals requesting money through GCash and other online payment platforms, pretending to be BFP personnel. These scammers often use fake identities and misleading information to gain the trust of their victims.

In this regard, the Basey Fire Station strongly emphasizes that:
The BFP does not engage in personal solicitations or request money through private accounts such as GCash.

Any official transactions, requests, or procurement activities are conducted through proper government procedures and documentation.
Personnel of the Basey Fire Station will always present valid identification and transact through official channels.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when dealing with suspicious transactions or individuals claiming to be affiliated with the BFP. If you encounter any of these fraudulent activities, please report immediately to the Basey Fire Station or contact our official hotline numbers.
