There is a high risk of life-threatening storm surge with peak heights exceeding 3.0 m within the next 24 hours over the low-lying or exposed coastal localities of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
โ€ข NANDO will continue moving westward towards the Babuyan Islands. On the forecast track, the center of NANDO may pass close or may make landfall over Babuyan Islands between noon and early afternoon today. It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by tomorrow (23 September) morning.
โ€ข NANDO may maintain its strength or further intensify before its close approach to Babuyan Islands.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
โ€ข NANDO will begin to turn westward today towards Babuyan Islands. On the forecast track, the center of NANDO may pass close or may make landfall over Babuyan Islands between noon and early afternoon today. It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by tomorrow (23 September) morning.
โ€ข NANDO may maintain its strength or further intensify before it approaches the Babuyan Islands.

Storm surge warning may be raised over the coastal waters of Northern Luzon as early as tomorrow (20 September).

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK

โ€ข NANDO is forecast to continue moving west northwestward over the Philippine Sea in the next 24 hours. It may move in a loop pattern today before turning northwestward to west northwestward from this evening until Monday (21 September) early morning. Afterwards, it is forecast to move generally westward while approaching Extreme Northern Luzon. On the forecast track, the center of NANDO may pass close or may make landfall over Babuyan Islands from Monday (22 September) evening until Tuesday (23 September) morning. It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday afternoon or evening.
โ€ข NANDO will continue to intensify while over the Philippine Sea and may reach typhoon category by tomorrow evening. Further intensification into super typhoon category while traversing the Extreme Northern Luzon is not ruled out.
