Limpiado discussed concerns regarding the monitoring of Civil Society Organization (CSO) membership in Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) and the conduct of Barangay Assembly Days for the 2nd Semester of 2026. Mr. Limpiado also shared updates on the new Foreign Travel Authority policy and gave a heads-up on the possible implementation of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) before the end of the year.

The Municipality of Bato, Leyte, under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Bryan Nile A. Gertos, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Hazel Dinah D. Miel, successfully conducted the Elderly Week 2026 Celebration on October 13, 2026, at the Bato Gymnasium, Bato, Leyte.

Dennis R. Limpiado, MLGOO, showed full support during the activity. The event opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Bato Senior Citizen Center, followed by a program featuring a coronation activity and dance numbers performed by senior citizens. The Caravan of Services for Senior Citizens was held in the afternoon.

The successful conduct of the celebration reflects the LGU's steadfast commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of Batohanon senior citizens.

The DILG Leyte took part in the Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC) review of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of the Municipality of Bato, Leyte, held on October 13, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall, Balay Lungsod, Bato, Leyte.

The LGU of Bato, under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Bryan Nile A. Gertos, through the Municipal Planning and Development Office headed by Engr. Rizalina M. Buzon, presented the salient points of the draft CLUP under review.

PLUC members from the Provincial Government and partner National Government Agencies shared their insights and recommendations for the refinement of the draft plan prior to its endorsement for approval by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Through a motion, the PLUC approved the CLUP of Bato, Leyte, subject to the suggested improvements.

The Municipality of Bato, Leyte through the leadership of Honorable Mayor Bryan Nile A. Gertos underwent the Regional Local Governance Champions (RLGC) Onsite Validation on October 9, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall, Balay Lungsod, Bato, Leyte.

The DILG Regional Office VIII Regional Assessment Team, led by LGOO V Jenna A. Negros, RLGC Regional Focal Person, Leanelle B. Moralde, Regional Statistician with the assistance of DILG Leyte Cluster Head Mauricio T. Labado, Jr. performed a thorough review of required documents, face-to-face interviews, and onsite inspections of facilities.

Following the onsite validation, LGU functionaries, partner NGAs and other officials convened for the exit conference, where the Regional Validators announced that the Municipality of Bato would be favorably endorsed as a potential passer. The endorsement is subject to deliberation by the Regional Council for Good Local Governance (RCGLG), which will convene on October 15, 2026.

The regional validation affirms LGU Bato's dedication to stronger local governance, better public service delivery, and excellence across key governance areas. As the municipality moves through the RLGC assessment process, this activity underscores how collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement plays a crucial role to better serve all Batohanons.
