The municipality of Batuan is one of the four towns comprising the island of Ticao within the province of Masbate. Batuan is the home of the Philippines' oldest and largest mangrove tree: seafood, Warm locals, White Sandy Beaches, Pristine Islands, and stunning Dive Sites. HOW TO GET THERE:
By Air
From Manila (MNL) to Daraga, Legazpi (DRP) Cebu Pacific & Philippine Airlines is 1 hou
r by air and 3 hours land travel from Legazpi to Bulan, Sorsogon, and a 1-hour ferry from Bulan to San Jacinto, Ticao Island. From Manila (MNL) to Masbate City (MBT) Cebu Pacific & Philippine Airlines is 1 hour and 15 minutes travel time. From Masbate Airport, ride a tricycle to Masbate Port then take a public fast craft or roro to Lagundi, Ticao Island. From Lagundi Port ride a habal-habal. It would take an hour to reach the destination. By Land
From Manila, Air conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses ply daily via the Bicol Route, from Cubao and Pasay City to Bulan, Sorsogon then a 1-hour boat ride to San Jacinto, Ticao Island. GETTING AROUND:
Motorcycle or habal-habal is the main mode of transportation in going around the Island of Ticao. TOURISM SITES:
1. Canvanes Marine Reserve and Fish Sanctuary. – Batuan’s Living Treasures. Explore 50 hectares of purely Marine Protected Area where you can scuba diving.
2. Bongsanglay Natural Park- It is the home of the Philippines' oldest and largest mangrove tree. Explore 1.5 km of trail surrounded by a century-old mangrove forest. Experience the underwater world by Snorkelling. By night, you can set up a camp surrounded by fireflies and experience one of the most beautiful shows in the World, The Bioluminescence!
3. Bongsanglay Beach – Make a new discovery on one of the best secret beaches in Ticao Island.
4. Matabao Island. - One of the most beautiful islands in the province of Masbate.
