Bansa NHS Conducts Dental Check-Up for 163 Students

Bansa National High School successfully conducted a dental check-up for its learners on August 17–18, 2026, as part of the school’s continuing efforts to promote proper oral hygiene and maintain the overall health and well-being of its students.

The two-day dental activity was facilitated by the dental team from Division Office, Dr. Glory B. Angawa and Dr. Reese Y. Bondad, with the assistance of School Nurse Visolyn K. Gayudan and Dental Aide Noemi C. Chalinat. A total of 163 students underwent dental examination and received guidance on proper oral health practices.

The activity provided learners with an opportunity to have their dental health assessed while also reinforcing the importance of regular toothbrushing, proper oral hygiene, and routine dental care. The dental team likewise emphasized that maintaining healthy teeth and gums is an important part of keeping learners healthy and ready for learning.

One of the highlights of the activity was the recognition of Alexander B. Tabaan, a male Grade 8 student, as an Outstanding Oral Health Award as commended by Dr. Angawa. "Let Alexander shares his secret to other students," she added. The recognition serves as an encouragement to other learners to develop and maintain proper dental care habits.

The successful conduct of the dental check-up reflects the school’s commitment to providing holistic care for its learners. Through health programs such as this, Bansa National High School continues to promote not only academic development but also healthy habits and responsible self-care among its students.

ATM-Bansa NHS PTA President Ireneo Dulnuan joined this morning's flag raising ceremony and reminded the students on road safety protocols and attendance to classes.

Dulnuan reminded students using motorcycles going to and from school to use helmets and that the use of motorcycles should be from home to school only. He also said that students should attend classes regularly and inform teachers of their reason if they get absent. He further reminded the students to be on time for the flag ceremony.

School visitation and monitoring is one of the PTA's intervention to increase learners' attendance and ensure safety in schools.

Bansa NHS Stakeholders Gather for Vital 'Kaagapay Program' Orientation

BANSA NHS-In a proactive effort to strengthen student support systems and curb student attrition, Bansa NHS hosted a comprehensive orientation on the Kaagapay Program on July 10, 2026. Held at the school campus, the event brought together key Bansa NHS stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and community members, to align strategies for holistic student development.

The orientation kicked off with an opening address by Federico P. Cayabas, Principal III of Bansa NHS. Cayabas provided the context setting for the initiative, underscoring the critical role the Kaagapay Program plays in fostering a nurturing educational environment. He emphasized that collaboration among stakeholders is vital to ensuring that no student is left behind.
Recognizing that academic success is deeply intertwined with emotional well-being, Dirk Jhule Engngeg, Project Development Officer II from the Schools Division Office of Mountain Province, delivered a session on Socio-emotional and Values Support. Engngeg highlighted the need to equip students with emotional resilience and strong core values to navigate modern challenges both inside and outside the classroom. He said that the school is not for competition; it is for learning. He further emphasized that the parents are the stronghold of the family.

Further expanding on student guidance, Reynalyn Codod, also a PDO II from SDO Mountain Province, discussed Positive Discipline and Behavior Guidance. Codod advocated for constructive, non-punitive approaches to student discipline, demonstrating how encouraging positive behavior fosters a safer and more welcoming school climate.

The orientation concluded with an impactful session by Cicily Sanggoy, who tackled Drop-out Prevention and Motivation. Sanggoy provided actionable insights on identifying at-risk youth and shared strategies to keep students motivated and engaged in their learning journeys. She also discussed the topic on “ Parents as the First Teacher” and the primary site of learning is home; and that parents as first teachers are encouraged to guide children spiritually and morally.

The successful rollout of the Kaagapay Program orientation marks a unified step forward for the Bansa NHS community, reinforcing their collective commitment to safeguarding the welfare and academic future of every learner.

Mr. Jomar Buclay and Carlos Lartec from the Municipal Environmental Office came to Bansa NHS to dessiminate Memorandum Order No. 32, S. 2026 from Bauko Municipal Chief Executive. Said order calls attention to all food caterers, service providers and concerned offices in the municipality of Bauko to minimize the use of single- use plastics and other disposable materials during occasions, meetings, and similar events.
According to them, this order also cover school canteens. This measure aims to significantly reduce the volume of waste generated within the municipality, lessen the burden on waste management facilities, promote resource efficiency and contribute to the protection of the environment.

The order is aligned with the Source Reduction strategy embodied in the approved 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan of the municipality of Bauko.

ATM- PSMS Regie Laltoog, PSMS Rex Cabalan and PSSG Arnold Zabala of PNP Bauko MPS conducts orientation on school safety and RA 10627 or Anti Bullying Act of 2013 to students of Bansa NHS.
PSMS Laltoog reminded the students not to engage in bullying and report instances of bullying. In school, they can report to the school head or the teachers and in the barangay, they can approach the officer-for the day. He further encouraged the students to speak for others who are being bullied and they definitely have the right to report incidents without fear. Laltoog reminded the students not to bring deadly weapons such as sharp and pointed objects to school. He advised them to study hard and do well in their studies.
Meanwhile, PSMS Cabalan reminded the students of the safety measures of using motorcycles. He said that wearing a helmet is always important and driving safely especially that today is rainy season. He told the students to drive safely "baken kaskasero". In addition, fines for violations were also mentioned including responsibilities of parents and motorcycle owners. Cabalan also informed the students that they are apprehending violators of the ordinance on spitting momma, telling them of the fines per offense. He reminded the students that if they wanted to enter the military service, they should have clean teeth so they should take care of it. Lastly, he told the students that they can approach them if they have problems that need their help. They can always reach them at Mabaay or at Bauko MPS.
The activity is one of the PNP actions to avoid violence in schools.
