Bauko Central School Celebrates Nutrition Month Culmination, Induction of PTA & HPTA Officers, and Launching of Buwan ng Wika and IPED
Bauko, Mountain Province — August 5, 2025 — Bauko Central School celebrated a day filled with purpose and pride as it held its Nutrition Month Culmination Program, the Induction Ceremony of the PTA and HPTA Officers, and the Launching of Buwan ng Wika and Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED). This year’s Nutrition Month theme,
“Food and Nutrition Security, Maging Priority: Sapat na Pagkain, Maging Karapatan Natin,” guided the celebration’s activities and message.
Held at the Bauko CS Function Hall, the day-long program consisted of four major segments that highlighted health awareness, environmental action, cultural preservation, and community engagement.
The program opened with a song of praise by the glee club, followed by lively and creative presentations from learners through songs, dances, and poems accompanied by colorful props.
Induction of the newly elected PTA and HPTA Officers, officiated by Barangay Captain Gerald Cajigan, who encouraged the officers to support school programs with active involvement and cooperation.
Following the main program, participants took part in a tree planting activity within the school vicinity, with 50 seedlings provided by the Local Government Unit of Bauko. Parents, teachers, school staff, and representatives from local organizations in Poblacion, Bauko joined the effort.
A nutritious lunch was then served, prepared by parents and teachers. Dishes included pinakbet, dinengdeng with legumes and green leafy vegetables, pancit, and chopsuey.
The celebration also marked the official launching of “Buwan ng Wika” and Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED).
Judeline Comila, IPED Coordinator, and Julia Sapdoy, Filipino Coordinator, shared their plans for the month-long celebration which will include activities that highlight Filipino language and indigenous identity.
Bertha Mangiwet, the School Head emphasized the importance of promoting the Filipino language and preserving indigenous culture particularly the rich traditions of the Igorot communities. This launch set the tone for a culturally enriched month aligned with the Department of Education’s thrust toward inclusive and culture-based education.
The event concluded with classroom-level contests such as poster making, slogan writing, and Larong Pinoy (traditional Filipino games). These activities not only reinforced the event’s themes but also encouraged creativity among the learners.
The celebration was a powerful testament to Bauko Central School’s ongoing commitment to nurturing healthy, culturally grounded, and community-supported learners.
