The Municipal Government of Bayog invites everyone to stay tuned for the upcoming episode of Kapihan sa PIA ug DXPR, featuring Municipal Mayor Hon. Celso A. Matias as guest of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region IX.

In this special discussion, Mayor Celso Matias will share the Municipality of Bayog’s development priorities, ongoing programs, key accomplishments, and future initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Bayoganons. The interview also serves as an opportunity to highlight the administration’s vision for progress, good governance, and responsive public service for the new term.

The Municipal Government of Bayog hereby informs the public that through Executive Order No. 26-352 issued by Municipal Mayor Celso A. Matias, the Temporary Four-Day Compressed Workweek arrangement in the Municipality of Bayog has officially been lifted, and the regular Five-Day Workweek shall resume effective June 1, 2026.

The temporary four-day compressed workweek was previously implemented pursuant to Executive Order No. 26-335 dated March 8, 2026, as part of the Municipality’s energy conservation and cost-reduction measures in compliance with Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 114.

Following observations indicating a gradual decrease in the economic crisis, the Municipal Government deemed it necessary to restore the regular work schedule in order to further strengthen the delivery of public services and effectively address the implementation of various programs, projects, and activities for the benefit of all Bayoganons.

Under the Order, all offices of the Municipal Government of Bayog shall resume regular five-day operations beginning June 1, 2026. The Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (OMPDC) is likewise directed to continue monitoring and submitting development status reports for management reference.

The Municipal Government of Bayog remains committed to ensuring efficient, responsive, and continuous public service delivery to the people of Bayog.

In a moment of pride and recognition for the Municipal Government of Bayog under the leadership of Mayor Celso Aragon Matias, through Joemar L. Araneta, Municipal Accountant, formally presented the plaque of the 2026 PhALGA Excellence Award, signifying the municipality’s continued pursuit of excellence in public service and governance. During the presentation, he proudly announced that the Municipal Government of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, has been recognized as a recipient of the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for Calendar Year 2024.

As indicated in the citation, the award stands as an outstanding mark of transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service, reflecting the Municipal Government’s unwavering commitment to good governance and dedication to uplifting the welfare of its constituents. The recognition further highlights the collective efforts and dedication of the municipal officials, department heads, employees, and stakeholders who continuously work hand in hand in delivering responsive and quality services to the people of Bayog.

The conferment of the award serves not only as a symbol of achievement but also as an inspiration for the Municipal Government of Bayog to continue leading with integrity, growing in service, and excelling in governance. The Sangguniang Bayan invited PLT Lorenz Cabrera, OIC Chief of Police of Bayog MPS, during the regular session to discuss matters concerning peace and order and the reported incidents of theft in various parts of the municipality.

Also present during the session was Hon. Maribeth Palanas of the Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Depase, who shared information and observations regarding a reported incident in their barangay to help provide additional context and assist in the discussion.

During the deliberation, PLT Cabrera emphasized the importance of immediately reporting incidents of theft and other crimes to the police authorities to ensure proper documentation, verification, and appropriate police action. He likewise reiterated that all reported incidents received by the Bayog Municipal Police Station are being properly acted upon in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws.

The Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Bayan likewise strongly emphasized the importance of maximizing available municipal resources and strengthening inter-agency coordination to assist law enforcement authorities in the identification and investigation of persons involved in criminal activities, as well as in the continued maintenance of public safety, peace, and order within the municipality.

In line with the continuing efforts to strengthen governance and ensure efficient delivery of public services, the Municipal Government of Bayog convened a significant meeting today, at the Municipal Function Hall. The activity was formally called through Memorandum No. 26-415, directing all department heads and key officials to attend without substitution.

The meeting was led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Celso A. Matias, with the active support and coordination of Municipal Administrator Mr. Virgilio Zamora and Municipal Budget Officer Ms. Jeel Baustita. It served as an important platform for aligning priorities, discussing critical programs, and reinforcing collaboration among municipal offices.

Among the key matters discussed were the implementation of the Medical Allowance for municipal employees, the proposed Supplemental Budget, and the lineup of events and activities scheduled from June to December 2026. Additionally, initial preparations for the 2027 Budget were tackled to ensure timely planning and fiscal responsibility. Other relevant concerns affecting the operations of the local government were also raised and addressed.

The meeting fostered a unified direction among officials, emphasizing accountability and service excellence for the people of Bayog.

As depicted in this powerful visual, drugs do not only harm the individual--they destroy families, weaken communities, and erode the very foundation of a healthy and progressive society.

On one side, we see the devastating effects of substance abuse: a lifeless environment, broken systems, and a future clouded with despair. On the other, we are reminded of what we can protect and preserve, a vibrant, thriving community filled with hope, growth, and opportunity. This contrast serves as a clear message: the path we choose today shapes the kind of tomorrow we will live in.

The Committee on Ordinances and Legal Matters, chaired by Hon. Adony Belza, successfully conducted a Public Hearing today, May 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Municipal Function Hall of the Municipal Government of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

The activity served as an avenue for meaningful dialogue and participatory governance, where members of the community, Punong Barangays, stakeholders, sectoral representatives, and concerned citizens were given ample opportunity to express their views, recommendations, and constructive suggestions regarding the proposed legislative measures.

Hon. Theody A. Matias, proponent of the three proposed ordinances, presented and explained the objectives, significance, and intended impact of the measures to the attending public. In response, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan present actively listened and encouraged open discussion to ensure that the voices of the people were heard, respected, and taken into consideration in the legislative process.

The public hearing highlighted the Municipality’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and responsive governance by fostering collaboration between the local legislative body and the constituents it serves. The valuable insights and recommendations gathered during the hearing will greatly contribute to the refinement and strengthening of the proposed ordinances for the welfare and best interest of the people of Bayog.
