𝗡𝗩 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿'𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀

Innovation, sustainability, and resilience took center stage as the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose V. Gambito, through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development (PROCEDE) Office, successfully conducted the 1st Governor's Sustainability Awards on June 24, 2026.

More than a competition, the event supported the Honorable Governor's directive on austerity and energy conservation measures amid rising petroleum prices and continuing global energy market volatility. It is likewise aligned with the national energy conservation directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., particularly Executive Order No. 110, which declared a state of national energy emergency due to the impact of the Middle East conflict on energy supply and fuel prices. Through this initiative, participating cooperatives showcased practical energy-saving, cost-efficient, and sustainable business strategies that enable them to address rising fuel, electricity, and transportation costs while strengthening the resilience of their enterprises.

Affordable Rice Initiative Set to Benefit Vulnerable Families in Nueva Vizcaya

The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, under the leadership of Governor Atty. Jose "Jing" V. Gambito, is preparing to launch its ₱20-per-kilo rice initiative next month, bringing affordable rice directly to communities through a provincewide mobile distribution program aimed at easing the impact of rising food prices on vulnerable households.

Known as "Bagas ti Umili: The People's P20 Rice Project," the initiative serves as the province's localized implementation of the national government's subsidized rice program. Mobile rice outlets will travel to barangays across Nueva Vizcaya, making low-cost rice more accessible to qualified beneficiaries.

The program's implementation was presented to Governor Gambito by Judith S. Asuncion, head of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PROCEDE), which will oversee the project's rollout and operations.

Rice stocks will be procured through Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) and sold at ₱20 per kilogram to eligible beneficiaries, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members, solo parents, and other low-income families. The program will also extend assistance to households with malnourished children, pregnant and lactating mothers, and families affected by disasters.

To ensure the initiative's continuity, the project will adopt a revolving fund scheme, allowing proceeds from rice sales to be used for the purchase of additional rice supplies for distribution to other barangays.

A total of more than ₱13 million has been earmarked for the project, with ₱11.3 million funded by the Provincial Government and ₱1.95 million provided by FTI as subsidy support.

This initiative reflects the provincial government's commitment to helping residents cope with the increasing cost of essential goods and the effects of recent economic and environmental challenges. Gambito, through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development (PROCEDE) Office, invites all registered cooperatives in Nueva Vizcaya to participate in the Search for Best Business/Investment Pitching Competition with the theme “Governor’s Sustainability Awards: Showcasing Cooperative Enterprise Resilience amidst the Energy and Economic Crisis”.

This competition provides a platform for cooperatives to share how their existing enterprises have adapted, innovated, and remained sustainable despite today’s challenging economic environment.
